Can not save scan documents in pdf format

I believe the x2500 only allows you to scan a document as an image. You can download and install CutePDF to create a pdf document from that image. http://www.cutepdf.com/download/CuteWriter.exe

How to Scan in Windows 7 without Using HP Software

Introduction

Windows7 provides a basic set of scanning drivers, also referred to asWindows Image Aquisition (WIA) drivers, that you can use as analternative to scan a document when you cannot scan using the HPdrivers. You might choose to use these scanning drivers for one of thefollowing reasons:
  • Your product released before Windows7 and HP has not released drivers that support scanning for your product.
  • You have not installed the available HP software that includes scanning.
  • You are troubleshooting a scanning problem and trying to identify the source of the problem.
Method one: Scanning with Windows Live Photo Gallery

To scan a document using Windows Live Photo Gallery in Windows7, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows icon c01319360.gif, click All Programs, and then click Windows Live Photo Gallery.
  2. Click File, and then click Import From Camera or Scanner.
  3. Click the product you are using to scan, and then click Import.
  4. Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan.

Method two: Scanning with Paint

To scan a document using Paint in Windows7, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows icon c01319360.gif, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Paint.
  2. Click the Paint button (c01886001.gif), and then click From Camera or Scanner.
  3. Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan.

Method three: Scanning with Windows Fax and Scan

To scan a document using Windows Fax and Scan in Windows7, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows icon c01319360.gif, click All Programs, and then click Windows Fax and Scan.
  2. Click New Scan.
  3. Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan.

I can't figure out how to scan something. The Wand turns on, but it won't start scanning. I even tried the white balance calibration?

Hi Karen,

Do you have a micro scan disk inserted? The scanner will not work without one. Insert the disk in the slot next to the Format button. Turn the unit on then press the format button to format the disk. To scan a document, you press the scan buttton once, then release the button. Slowly move the wand over the document to be scanned. When you have finished scanning, press the scan button once again.

Hope this helps,

Marcus

How can I scan a document then print it with larger print?

You can scan a document or photo or negative film etc.. using a scanner, there a many types of scanners which you can choose as per your requirement. There are dedicated scanners, all in one integrated scanners, or two in one like that.. but if you need it for your professional use or daily use, it's better to get a dedicated scanner not "all in one" since with all in one if the copier fails or fax fails, the scanner will also fail because they are related and built-in integrated.
The process of scanning a document is as follows;
  • > Place the document on the scanner's flatbed.
  • > Press scan button or scan using the integrated software from the computer.
  • > Customize the scan settings/quality.
  • > Save the scanned documents.
Printing a document to a larger size is different, you can use photo editors like photoshop, paint.net etc..where you can changed the resolution as well as the size of the image. It's best to change the size or resolution before you give the print command. Or you can also change the print size with the paper size or print size.
If you still need more help, please let me know with more details. I am ready to assist you.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Cant figure out how to scan something

You can start scanning a document two dfferent ways--from the printer or from your computer. With either method, the first thing you need to do is place whatever you want to scan face down on the glass of the printer. Close the top cover.

If you want to do everything from the printer, press the button with the diamond on it. "Save Photo" should appear on your computer. You can then choose a name for the file and a location where you want to save it.

To proceed from the computer instead, you can start the Lexmark Imaging Studio. Click "Scan," select the Document option, and then click "Start."

That should get you started!

Not scanning

Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie Lexmark X2500) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

Hope that helps.

Cancelling/stopping a printing job

Open the Control Panel from either the Start menu or by opening 'My Computer.' Find your Printers and Faxes folder and open that.  Double-click on the icon of the X2500; if more than one, choose the one with a check mark and double click on that icon. This will open a 'job list' showing those which were not completed for some reason, click on it (them) and delete it from the list.
