Question about Conair Weight Scale "Thinner" with Body Fat, Hydration, Bone Mass

Open Question

I have a Thinner bathroom scale (TH400) and am getting a weird error message. I have the manual and the error isn't mentioned, and I can't locate relevant info on Conair's site. The batteries are fine, and in fact, the digital display and settings work fine. However, when I try weighing myself, the display shows some that looks like an EAP with the top horizontal part of the E not showing. The scale used to work fine, then the message just started. I tried changing the batteries (although it's not a standard low battery error code) to no avail. Please help. Thank you.

Googled around until I found specifications for an unrelated brand of a similar bathroom scale. It mentioned making sure batteries were flat side uppermost in their compartment, which did the trick.

SOURCE: Error message ErrL

My scale had the same problem.  I replaced the battery, but still got the same message.  My wife noticed that one of the feet on the bottom of the scale was loose.  The feet are twisted on to the scale and held by two small flanges.  When I gently pulled the loose foot away I noticed that a small black wire had broke.  I used my fingernails to remove a small bit of the wiring cover and twisted the ends back together.  I then hide the wires back in a recessed area on the foot and placed it back on the scale.  Worked just like the day I got it.   Hope this helps!

i believe that, like most electronic scales, the first time you get on the scale you must step off to allow it to zero itself. Then step back on to get your correct weight.

I have a Thinner glass/brass round bathroom scale and I cannot find the battery location. I purchased this about 10 years ago from Frontgate but they couldn't help me. Can you?

I have a 10 year old Thinner bathroom scales also. Apparently the manufacturer designed it to make battery replacement hard so you'd buy a new scales. To replace the battery, if your unit is similar to mine, turn it over, remove all the screws and separate the top and bottom. You'll see the glass window that shows the weight. It is held in place by four tabs that are slightly twisted. Straighten them, lift the glass assembly clear without straining the wires, and turn it over to reveal the round black battery case. It is secured by three small screws and clear epoxy. Remove the epoxy with a knife blade, remove the screws, and separate the two halves of the case on one side being careful not to separate the other side where there is a metal connection piece. Using the knife tip, remove the CR2032 battery and replace it with a new one (available at Radio Shack or similar stores). Reassemble in reverse order; no need to replace epoxy. My scales worked fine after that.

The Taylor bathroom scale is giving an error message. How can I fix this?

If the scale is moved or bumped, or the battery is replaced, the scale needs to be initialized before use.

To initialize, just press on the platform with your foot. The display will turn on and off. The scale is ready for use once again.

When you see the err message step off the scale and wait 5-10 secs then step back on and it should be ok. Remember that when standing on it you must keep absolutely STILL.
Good Luck
