Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

Sony Trinitron KV-32FS13 Popping sound

I get a loud popping sound several times a day from the above model TV. It happens when the set is both on an off. It happens randomly - not predictable. Is this normal or is it a hazard?

Can dust cause Sony Trinitron 34" tv to go black and make popping sounds?

Dust rarely affects this kind of set---this model had high voltage problems---and if popping I would unplug it.

To be honest this set weighs a ton and is expensive to fix, average repair can be well over 200 dollars.

A lot of them now are being retired and replaced with LCD sets etc.

Green screen and distorted picture sound is good but no picture

It must be connected with the color circuit of your tv, a board connected to back end of the tube. Could be dust, cob web or carbon deposit shorting a transistor. Popping noise if loud enough can be attributed to high voltage circuit fault and picture tube.

Have it service by a qualified person.

Sony KV 32FS13

Good day.
Your system is encountering a hold down issue. Ussually, this is the absence of signals due to malfunctioning parts particularly in the vertical circuitry.it could Eigther be an IC, transistor or a defective resistor. However, it can sometimes be remedied by simply resoldering the loose components in the circuitry.

response is highly appreciated.

Sony Trinitron KV-32FS13 will not power on

The set should have a blinking standby light when you attempt to turn it on. Please update this with the count and that should give me enough to propvide some details.

Popping & cracking noises

Is the popping noise coming from the speakers? If it is, lowering the volume to zero does not stop the popping from the speakers, then you have an audio output failure. If the sound is not from the speakers, you probably have a high voltage leak. If this is the case, are you in a moist environment or using the set near a window??

The HOT transistor is shutting it down. (horizontal output transistor)
it cost about 8.00 for the parts and 100 for the labor.

you will require help from a tech.
