Did you turn the camera on? i know it sounds too easy, but i've forgotten to do that plenty of times. otherwise, you may need a new usb cable.

Several attempts to install windows 2003 on dell optiplex 780 have been unsuccessful. all i get each time is a blue screen.

Windows 2003? There is no operating system called "Windows 2003". There is Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows Milenium, Win Xp, Win Vista, Windows 7 ect. But no Windows 2003.

If you are trying to install an operating system on a Dell computer, put the disk in the cd or dvd drive on the pc and close it. Then turn the computer off and reboot it with the disk in the drive. After the computer reboots, it should recognize the disk in the drive and bring up the installation process automatically. Sometimes you have to reboot the computer 3 - 4 times in a row with the disk in the drive in order to get it to recognize the software and boot from that drive.

If the Dell does not have an operating system on it and you are trying to install windows from a disk, it may not auto recognize the program in the drive and the above instructions will not work. If this is the case, then you need to put the disk in the drive of the pc and restart/reboot it - and watch the computer screen as the pc restarts - look at the lower left side of the screen during the boot up process to see what keys you need to press to enter startup mode, or get into the bios system of the computer. when you boot up a pc, it will display the keys you need to press on the screen for a brief few seconds before the "windows" screen appears and it completes the start up. If the pc is running windows xp, the command keys to press during start up might be F2 - F8 or "press the delete key". The commands can differ depending on which version of windows you are using - and they can also vary by brand of pc too.

You need to put the pc into "safe mode" or get into the Bios system or restore area to install windows if the computer does not already have an operating system installed on it.

To put the pc into safe mode or get into the Bios System, you need to press the right keys during the start up - and do this before a picture appears on the screen or the windows display comes up.

Put the disk in the drive and reboot the pc. As soon as it starts to reboot, keep pressing the F8 key. If the pc does not go into Bios or say "loading safe mode" then immediately restart the pc and try again. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 attempts to make this happen. If the F8 command does not work after 4 tries, then try the F2 key. After four tries if that does not work - try pressing the delete key.

If you can get the pc into the bios system - use the arrow keys on the keyboard to scroll through the options and find the prompt that says "boot order". change the boot order to boot from the Cd or Dvd drive instead of the hard drive. Save after changing this setting and reboot the pc with the disk in the drive and it should boot from that disk to install the operating system. Try rebooting 2 or 3 times after changing the boot order to the disk drive to get it to boot from the cd. Then just follow the prompts to install the operating system and your done!

first make sure there on no disks in the drives cd usb floppy

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

On boot up laptop states it can't find the operating system

this sounds like you need to repair the boot sector. this usually happens when a hard disks boot sector becomes corrupt or damaged. to fix this you must use the windows install disk to install recovery console. put the disk in the CDROM drive, reboot, (you may need to press F2 upon bootup to enter setup and choose to boot from the CDROM instead of HDD) once computer is configured to boot to the CD drive reboot and choose "repair" when prompted by the cd. once the repair prompt is up you must run the 'fixmbr' command which will copy boot files back to your computer. hope this helps. please rate me and thanks for choosing enterprise computing solutions.

CD Disk Drive E doesn't want to open

Right click on "My Computer" and press "Device Manager". See if your CD drive appears in there. If it does, delete it and re-boot. The PC should find the CD as a new device and re-install standard drivers for it. Hope this helps. Ian.

Compaq Presario 5WV270 Has No Oprating System

installing windows 95 on your pc would require you to have a bootable disk (either a floppy or cd)
insert your bootable disk and go to bios settings --> once you start your desktop pc, press Del key
then go to Boot menu and select your frist boot to floppy or cd (wherever your bootable disk is) then exit and save changes.
once your pc boots from the bootable disk goto C:
then make a directory (let's say Win95) --> C:\md win95
then press enter
then goto that directory which you've just created ---> C;\cd win95
then press enter
then copy your windows 95 disk on this directory
once you finished copy, run setup
be sure to remove your bootable disk the next time your pc restarts or change the boot sequence (again in Bios settings) to your harddrive as first boot
hope this helps

Try and see if you can get the new one of 20GB theyre easy to replace.
