Question about Acer Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I've been using the acer extensa 2550 for 2-3 yrs recording sermons in our church. Done between 130-150 successful recordings. The cable from the mixer gets plugged into the microphone receptaclc in the front of the laptop. I use audacity software for this. Since last week the recording does/nt work. Could it be that the micrphone receptacle got damaged for some or othe reason? Thx, Ferdie

I suppose the only solution is then to have the microphone receptacle replaced?

    Thx Ferdie

We can't get the volume loud enough to hear when we record to a CD

This unit is a pro unit that makes use of XLR type inputs. These are typically at +4 dBm signal level not that of the -10 from RCA type mixing boards. So what you need to do is take the RCA outputs from your source and hook them to a IHF or unbalanced to Balanced converter and they are available from MCM Electronics. This device here should take care of the problem.

Hi all, I run the panasonic camcorder ag-dvx100b every Sunday for my Church to record our church sermons. We use the camcorder also to project the pastor on a large screen during service. Anyway, I have...

I have looked at the video. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the camcorder. The problem is more from the angle at which you are recording. You seem to be a little offset from center, probably because there are seats in the center and you do not want or cannot record from there so that people may sit in the middle or behind that without an obstructed view. Are you recording from as close to the seats as possible, meaning in the aisle?Try recording from the center, even if it's in a seating area. You should try experimenting a little.Have someone stand towards the center, like in the video.Move your camera around to different areas and see where you can get the best results from.Move to the furthest area back, and see how close you can zoom in to get a good picture. Then work inwards from there. If you do not have a full capacity crowd, they will understand even if you are in the seating area taking video. It should not block a whole lot of seat views. If you are quite full, just move farther back.TAKE NOTES when you are attempting to get a good picture.Seat,row,location,etc.Then you have a quick reference to adjust to if necessary.Even if all 3 legs of the tripod are not able to extend fully if shooting from a seat row,the 3rd leg should be able to shorten up to put on the seat, but you may have to weight the seat down if they are the ones which automatically pop up.If the seats have a gap between the back of the seat and the upright part, you will probably have to rig something to hold the leg in place.Using the tripod in the seat, the best idea would be to push the 3rd leg which is on the seat up against the back edge and wedge it there somehow. That would give you the best stability. gmccarthy 86 hotmail If you reply, please write something in subj line so I know it's a good email because it will show up in my junk at first. Also,a note for the speaker. When listening to public speaking,'filler' words like uh and um are VERY annoying to many who are listening.Have the speaker look at himself on video and practice not doing this.He is doing it quite a bit.Personally, that alone would have gotten me to walk out after a short time if I were at this particular link's sermon. Good luck,Greg

I have a Marantz CDR632 and I am recording sermons for a church. After I am finished and completed the finalization process I try to use in a duplicator and it gives an error message that it is a problem...

We have the same problem with our CD duplicator at our church. When the duplicator finishes it always shows 'fail' but the copied CD-R appear to have copied correctly and play on other players.

If webcam can video record. acer crystal clear.

Web cams are very poor cousins of actual video cameras. You can record but it will not be of much use when viewed on a large screen. Moreover, the resolution and fps would be very low giving you a blurred and jerky movements. Not worh the effort.

Timing of Mastering and burning final copy to CD

I don't use my Tascam to create CDs for exactly the reasons you are asking about. I do a bounce mix to a couple of tracks and then export via usb to a PC for finalizing and CD creation there.

To answer your questions, you do always need to create a master first for each sermon on the DP-02 before you can burn it to a CD. You also have to finalize the CD to play it on other players.

Mastering as well occurs in real time, so it does take 60 minutes to create a master for a 60 minute recording.

As I don't burn from my Tascam, I didn't realize the burn time was so long though. I would have expected that to be faster for sure. I know my old 2488 MkI is supposed to burn at 4x and I believe the MkII burns at 8x. The DP-02 is newer than both and I would assume it would burn even faster.

Anyway, as I said you might wish to go the PC route. That way you can export the tracks without having to master them and burn them from the PC to CD at up to 40x (depending on the speed of your PC's burner).

Hope this helps.
