I have a DOD 317 twin cavity De Dietrich oven. The timer keeps flashing. I can get it to stop flashing and start the bottom oven but it can revert to flashing again and the oven then stops cooking. What is the likely problem and total cost of a repair.

SOURCE: My oven keeps turning itself off

the oven may be trying to protect itself because of a faulty device that says "I'm too hot". As electric clothes dryers have a thermal high temp limit switch to protect them, look for this device (may be 1 inch round with 2 wires connected) and replace it

SOURCE: Oven Light does not turn off

The problem is due to a faulty door switch, this is part of the door lock mechanism. The reason is that the oven thinks the door is open , this puts on the light and stops some of the oven functions ie the fan the fan element and probably the bottom element.
The answer is to fit a new door lock mechanism.

SOURCE: De Dietrich Oven - Clock tripping back to 00:00 means I cant turn on my oven!

its a fix more than a solution but you can bypass the clock thus allowing the oven to operate again
unplug at the mains and remove the oven from the housing remove the two fastening screws from the metal lid on the top of the oven ,and remove the lid
you will see the timer back panel with 3 wires coming to it, 2 are black (switching line) and 1 is red (Live feed to timer )
If you pull the connectors from the 2 black wires from the timer board and connect the ends together using a connector block, the timer switch becomes inactive and allows the oven functions to operate again.
you will have no timer functions but its a cheap fix and who uses the timer any way
good luck Andy B
ps if anyone has a set of operating manuals for ths oven i would be glad of a copy

De Dietrich DOD788B is not switching on. None of the digital buttons work except for the timer, but the clock is on.

ovens can sometimes need a time set on the clock, it dose not need to be the right time but it must be at a time ie not flashing
