***It is not a gas unit, and it is the larger unit, for a pool, not spa.

The DDTC temperature display contains three LED’s with a decimal point between the first and second,
this display is also used to display an error code if for some reason there is a failure within the heater
control system or a DDTC internal fault. The DDTC will display the actual temperature or set-point
temperature or OFF, as selected by the user. When DDTC detects an error, the display will show Exx, where Exx is the error code of DDTC fault, indicate a
“soft lockout” error that means after these errors are fixed, the heater will resume normal operation and
restart immediately. Code ERR indicates a “hard lockout” error that means after these errors are fixed,
you need to reset the power of the heater through the switch on the bottom of the electrical junction box
on the right side of the cabinet.

your error code e02 means high temperature limit.

I have a new spa with a Pentair Mastertemp 125. We have had issues with the heater running intermittently and making a very loud rattling noise. I've been through a long list of troubleshooting...

Maybe that at lower pump speed the water is staying in the heat exchanger too long, and the rattle you hear is water starting to boil. The high limit sensors will sense the water temp being too high and shut down the heater. If it functions normally at high speed the issue is probably with the heater having problems with slow flow through the exchanger. You may want to consider switching to an electric heater where this would not be an issue. Just a guess without being there.

My temperature says HI. but my temp is not warm

The error code is HL, not hi
This is telling you the high limit switch is tripping(safety feature)
Lack of flow, corroded heat exchanger, bad high limit switch, bad thermal regulator.....
Take these steps to try and get it narrowed down.
With heater off
Locate the high limit switch, unplug the two wires connected to it, put a jumper wire in between those two wires. Turn on the heater, if it fires you need to wait till it heats all the way up. If if heats up with no fault in the cycle then most likely it's a bad high limit switch, if it continues to trip then thermal regulator, it may need both parts.
If it doesn't fire at all then you will probably need a professional

Pentair Mini max my power light comes on but my pressure sw does not light up

if pressure switch does not light that means no pressure either water flow or a bad pressure switch you can jump the wires on the pressure switch but be very carefull if it does start make sure it does not bang or make noises

Pentair Minimax has worked correctly for 5 years. Now is comes on and the heater starts up for maybe 30 seconds and shuts off for a minute or two. It cycles like this for a really long time... a couple...

Usually this means that the flue temperature sensor indicates too high a temperature. this is usually caused by too low water flow through the heater and therefore both the water and the flue temperature is too hot. You should check all the baskets, the pump impeller, the filter and any return devices to make sure water can flow at full rate. It is unlikely but maybe the flue temperature or control board is defective. If all else fails you may be able to call the Pentair technical support line to help diagnose the problem. I hop this helps.

Err code 3 flasshes

Error E03 on this unit means "thermal fuse open" . The thermal fure is about 3.5" long. It is in the front middle inside the cabinet and is black in color very skinny, and has 2 pink connections on the end.

This part is easy to find, and easy to replace for any homeowner. The hard part is finding why it tripped to begin with. Sometimes they just corrode and fail, but most of the time there is a reason.
The thermal fuse is put there to sense when a flame is rising into the cabinet instead of out of the top venting. If there was high wind in the area, it could have just been the high wind.

If the heater has not been serviced in a long time, the heat exchanger could be sooting and blocking the normal flow of venting air, causing a bad burn.
Other things that would cause this are insufficient gas supply, insufficient venting, bad gas pressure, dirty heat exchanger, or a dirty burner tray.

The part number for the thermal fuse is : 075173 and can be found at any online pool parts store.

Pentair MasterTemp 400 Heater Will run fine for about 1-2 hours then the service heater light comes on and the control panel is completely locked up. I can only reset by cutting power to the machine, where...

This reminds me of some of the High temp sensors ive replaced. I would start with checking the pumps flow to the heater. Make sure there are no abstructions and at least 35 GPM (gallons per minute) running to the heater. If your flow is too low, you will trip the high limit sensor after a short while.
This could also mean you need to clean out the heat exchanger. When an exchanger gets dirty, it blocks the flow of water, slowing it down and "super heating" itdue to the water being in contact with the exchanger for too long. This will also trip the high limit and call for service.
If both the above items check out, contact me @ adamh@newconceptchem.com and I will guide you further.

hi, this generally means a flow error and shows when the heater is looking to heat but there isn't enough pressure running through the heater tube. in this case the thermal overload sounds like it has tripped in the pump.

HEATER GOES OFF ON EO2 OR EO4 CODE . WATER FLOW IS 145GPM HEAT EXCHANGER IS CLEAN FAN WORKS FINE. VENT PIPE HAS BEEN CLEARED OUT THIS IS A MINI-MAX 400 I RUN A FAN BLOWING ON THE HEATER AND IT STAYS ON...

EO4 is the heater fan error, it may go on briefly and then shut off after only a few minutes. most likely cause is a blown fan-there is a thermal switch installed on the blower fan that shuts off the fan when it gets too hot. the only workable solution is to replace the blower fan unit completely also 145 GPM is a very high flow rate; normal residential pools operate in the 40-70 gpm range and 110+GPM on commercial pools if this is residential you may have too much pump for your system. 1 1/2-2 hp is standard if you also run an automatic vaccuum off the same pump
