Lowside psi. should about 60-68 highside about 225-250. This is aproximent pressures as indoor and outdoor tempetures play a big part in determining propper charge.

How to jump ac compressor

Well, I will tell you that the electric plug that is on the low pressure A/C switch will engage the compressor clutch when you put a jumper wire in the electric plug. This is done sometimes to draw in Freon to charge the system and then eliminated when there is enough Freon pressure to cause the low pressure switch to work again. Then the pressure switch will cycle as Freon pressure builds.

In no manner should any attempt be made to operate (drive) the vehicle with the switch bypassed as it will destroy the compressor and possibly melt the serpentine belt and parts will go flying. IF the system is low on Freon after 9 years a boost of Freon with sealer will help.

You need some tools with a pressure gauge for A/C. The ideal amount of Freon is what the manufacturer shows on the A/C label plus oil.

There are other tools like Vacuum pumps which take the moisture out of a system. If the system is not empty, you may be able to add Freon. Read up on this more.

Hi I keep getting a ch 67 after the unit starts fine and runs for like five minutes fan on all units work during that five minutes any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Low freon pressure switch is turning it off. As the coils cool down the pressure drops. As time goes on it will run shorter and shorter cycles. In warm weather freon 22 low pressure should be near 70 lb
410A freon about 150 on the low side

Charging air conditioner

There is a lot to doing the job correctly, but sometimes with luck you can get acceptable results with minimum expense and effort. It all depends on how much Freon is left in the system.
The repair for a system with remaining Freon in it is a different repair job from a system that is empty. The Freon pressure keeps worse things from happening. You will find a fitting to add Freon on the accumulator(black oblong tank) or on a line close to that part. With the engine running and A/C engaged; you need to check the Freon pressure with a gauge.
If the A/C compressor is not kicking in, the connector on the low pressure switch needs to be disconnected and jumped with a looped wire. Add Freon if you have low pressure. Note the pressure because the low pressure switch has a rated working pressure and weak pressure switches can cut out early.
Fill the Freon to a moderate working level. You want the A/C to stay working longer which it will do when it is charged between the high and low pressure limits.
But if you find that there is zero pressure in the system, at a minimum you need to rent or borrow a Vacuum pump and evacuate the system. Then add Freon with a sealer and a small oil charge. Operate the system and drive 20 minutes minimum to circulate the sealant. Check pressure after 24 hours and top off the Freon charge.
If the leak did not seal, you will need professional help and tools to replace the leaking part. There are leak detectors, but some of the fittings require special tools to change.

What is the correct pressure for freon in AC unit and what is the color of the cap where you add the freon?????

The charging port cap is usually blue, The charging fixture hose will not clip onto the wrong port, so you really can't mess that up. the pressure of a system as measured on the low side hose should be about 28-32 PSI with the system stabilized and engine at operating temperature.

Hello I would add a HARD START KIT to the run capasitor (if there is not one already). This makes the compressor come on easy.If the breaker trips during running time the pressures are too high, hose off the condenser coil (fins). The unit might be slightly overcharged but I would be careful before adjusting the freon at all.

Air conditioner does not cool in 2000 Yukon. How do I check freon level and how to replace freon if need be

Get an r134a refrigerant add kit from Walmart or your local auto parts store.

You can even get a can of Arctic Freeze by Intermatics that has a hose and a gauge on it.

Connect the hose to the low side port. You can find this port on the 'thicker' piping that comes off of the compressor (versus the thinner piping that comes off the compressor which is the high pressure side).

Pressure should read 25 psi to 45 psi on the low pressure side when the compressor is running and the a/c is on.

Pressure should read 75 psi to 100 psi on a hot day when the car is off.

However, you'll want the a/c to be running when you add freon.

Press the button on the can to install more freon, if needed.

How do you connect a/c charger to make your central air cooler

The 1998 Dodge Caravan ac should be charged at the low pressure service port. This port is located on the suction line near the compressor. The suction line can be identified by it's size, it being the larger of the two line connected to the compressor. You must purchase a recharge kit at your local part store, which should include charging hose with pressure gauge and a can of R134a freon. Gloves and eye protection should be worn during servicing.(freon can freeze your eyes and cause frost bite to your hands). Connect freon to charging hose, connect charging hose to low pressure service port, open valves and start engine, turn on ac. If compressor won't start it may be required to disconnect the low pressure switch and jump out the connector.

Unit is fully charged but suction line freezes

hi there,
this sympton persist in over charging of freon it is call super charge, exessive charging of freon resulted to freeze your suction line, this is bad for the cycling process.to reduces freon charging purge out exessive freon on low side charging port.make sure service charge pressure gauge valve was installed.to determine the exact operating pressure. have a nice day fix my rate, thanks a lot.

GE chest freeze won't get cold

the noise your hearing indicates the possibility of a bad start relay on the comp or possibly it just came loose during the move. on the side of the compressor you will see 2-3 wires running into an electrical connection reseat this first. if still no operation replace teh relay. you can purchase thru any reputable appliance parts dealer. after replacing the relay if you have no operation then likely problem is seized comp.
domestic freezers do not have low pressure switches that indicate low freon charge.

Need to add Freon

There are two A/C service ports located somewhere in the system, one on the high side (larger port) and one on the low side (smaller port)

They are located in different areas depending on the vehicle, and there is no general location I can give you.

Start from the compressor (belt driven on the engine) and follow your lines, they should be somewhere on the A/C lines or accumulator/dryer (big aluminum canister near the firewall) and are (usually, if they were not left off) capped. Twist the caps off and inside is a "Schrader-type" valve (like the valves on tires). These are the service ports.

Just for reference, there are 2 different sizes of A/C lines on any vehicle, the small ones are the high pressure side (liquid side)(lines which get hot during operation) and the larger ones are low pressure side (vapor side) (lines which get cold during operation).

The system runs a small line from the compressor (on the engine) to the condensor (in front of the radiator), a small line from the condensor, through the orifice tube to the evaporator (inside the cab heater box) then a larger line out of the evaporator, through the accumulator/dryer, back to the compressor.
