HP screen goes black 5 seconds after ac adapter is plugged in or out

This may not be the ac adapter itself. the metal prongs on the side of your HP Laptop to connect to the wire of your ac adapter may be bent or shortciruited. try to get a replacement which may be hard depending on what type of HP Laptop you own. or you may just have to send it back if you dont know how, in order to avoid breaking the warranty policy by mistakenly damaging it.

Laptop Won't Boot

You'll need to troubleshoot your laptop in order to know what the exact problem is. First try to plug it in with the battery on and try turning the laptop on. Next would be to remove the battery and plug the computer. If this doesn't work then it's definitely the AC Adapter and you'll probably need to call toshiba to purchase a new one from them or if you're still under warranty then have it replaced. They also have some qualifiers on whether an AC adapter or battery is qualified for replacement even if it's under warranty. Just call them on 1-800-457-7777 and ask their technical support reps about this.

AC power adapter wattage cannot be determined

The AC adapter needs to be replaced. You can buy one from Dell for about 100-200 dollars. If your laptop is still under warranty, the charger is often covered under the same warranty as the laptop and should be replaced under warranty if applicable. You may also buy a third-party charger off of ebay or amazon much cheaper, but this is not recommended. If you do consider a third party charger, make sure that it has the same wattage, voltage, everything! Good luck!

No power

Hello, If the battery won't charge and the laptop won't turn on but the ac adapter works with other laptops, then the problem is the port where you plugin the ac adapter. Some of the laptops has it built in to the motherboard. So you might need to have it repaired by a technician. Or if the laptop is still in warranty, you might need to send it to the manufacturer to have it repaired or replaced. But if the laptop works without the battery, or it will turn on but the battery indicator is not lighting up, you're facing one of these problems. 1. The battery itself is dead. 2. the battery bay is loose 3. the battery itself is loose Hope this helps

Not charging

Hello,

1.Check the power outlet if it's working.
2.Try to also change the power cord with good one. If it works then the problem is the power cord.
3.Try to use a good know ac adapter to check if the only problem is the ac adapter. If it works then the problem is the ac adapter. If your still in warranty, you can go to this website to get a replacement ac adapter acclaim.toshiba.com or go to toshibadirect.com to order replacement for non-warranty.
4.If could borrow a battery that has same specs and size of your battery , you may put that on your laptop and try if the laptop will power ON. If the laptop won't turn ON, meaning there is a system board problem, if it turns ON the only problem is the ac adapter.

If your still under warranty, you may contact Toshiba, you may send it at no cost.

DELL E1705 model. When connecting AC adapter, even before pressing power button, led in power adapter goes off immediately. Why ? The power adapter is OK. When connected with Battery, no switch-on.

Since the system is not working ion both battery and the adaptor it could be a faulty motherboard.. Call dell @18006249896 if you are in warranty.. Contact local tech if thr\e system is out of warranty....

Replacement AC Power Adapter Not Charging Battery

Its not an adapter problem. its not a battery problem as well.
Here is what you can try to solve it.

1. we need to update the BIOS of the cmputer/ for that. go to the website. support.dell.com and then click on drivers and downloads. click on enter the service tag. and then enter your computer service tag and then it will take you to the downlaod page and then you would see a downlaod for BIOS. downlaod it and install it. 60% it will fix the problem.
Note:- the battery charge must be 10% in order to continue. else it wont work.

2nd thing. the port where you connect the adapter to the computer which can be called as a mother board that has gone bad and needs to be replaced.
and replacing the motherboard is not economical it a very costly item. so you might need to think of purchasing another laptop.

3. if you even donot want to buy another laptop. call dell if you are in warranty they will replace the motherboard else they will connect you to Out of warranty repairs and they will fix it. its a hardware problem and it is a costly item. be aware.

i can understand its sad, but if this information was helpful please rate this solution.

Can't go any further

If the system is still powering on then off, it is most likely a power issue.
First, remove the battery, see if the system will power on with the AC adapter alone. If no power indication at all (Which is what I expect) then there is a problem supplying power to the system. If the system turns on and runs normally without the battery, then replace the battery.
If available, try a different AC adapter (Ant Dell D-Series AC adapter will work) and see if the system powers on normally. If it does, replace the AC adapter. If you connect a known good ac adapter and the system doesn't power on, then remove the drives, the modem, wireless card and memory and see if any change. If still no change, then replace the motherboard.
If symptoms change after removing all removable items, add 1 memory module back and see if the system will POST. If it does, add items back one at a time till the bad item is identified, then replace that item.

Compaq presario does not turn on

Your battery is dead. You need to get a new power adapter. The battery isn't charging. The AC adapter went south. If the laptop is under warranty, you can get one from Compaq. Or, what I would do is shop on the internet and order one. Whats the numbers on the ac adapter? I'll help you find one.
