Go to the menu, select "Custom Reset Settings" then choose "Reset". This will reset the camera to default factory settings and hopefully by-pass any settings you set to cause your current situation. Hello Aubrey

There is 2 possibilities:
1) you have focusing on MF or S-AF+ MF- it can sometimes stop focusing
2) second possibility is that body has "forgotten" lens- mostly it happens when you change the lens when body is switched ON, so you can try- switch OFF- unscrew lens- screw lens back and switch ON.
You may also want to visit THIS link form a different forum..

If all else fails, then its best to get the camera serviced..

Hope that helps!

Is it just the screen that is black, or the picture output is black as well?

Try taking a picture (even though you cant see anything in the screen) and transfer this to a PC and see if it shows up.

    1. If it shows up as a regular picture, then the fault is with the LCD screen.
    2. If the picture is black as well, then the issue is more likely with the CCD or main board.

In either case, you will have to take the camera in for servicing.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions,
    please post them here.

You can try a few things to see if they help
  • First is to power off the camera and detach and reattach the lens just to make sure you are getting a good connection for the auto-focus
  • The second thing you want to do is shoot in RAW format to be sure you are able to retain the most information in the image.
  • Make sure the noise reduction is turned off in the camera menu
  • If you aren't using a cable shutter release you can opt to have the shutter delay after pressing the button. This will allow the camera to stop shaking from you pressing the button before it releases the shutter. You can find this option in the menu. Camera 2 > Anti-Shock > 3 sec.
  • Another consideration is the quality of the lens you are using. The G10 has great glass while a kit lens from Olympus may not give the fidelity throughout like the G10 does. You can try another lens if you have one available to see if this is the case. The G10 is a single purpose camera that has a great lens on it. The E-500 may need a better quality lens on it in order to achieve the sharpness you desire. Olympus makes a great 50mm macro that has an f2.0 brightness.
  • You can also set the camera to manual focus and then choose to do focus bracketing. This is a little more involved and you can find out how to do so in the manual for the camera.

Noise + lens problem

Not necesarely a lens problem. It could be, but also it could be a software or mecanical problem. You have to take the camera to a local Olympus dealer for repair. You cannot repair this on your own.

Have you actually cleaned the contacts or are you just looking at them and they "look" clean? Clean them with a cotton swab lightly dampened in rubbing alcohol.

Epson 3000Z in "sports" mode

With the telephote lens, I am assuming that the camera is a bit more sensitive to any form of camera shake. My suggestion, when using the telephoto lens, is to manually set the shutter speed to its fastest setting (that, or set it to "sports mode"). Also, experiment with the telephote lens using your tripod. Set the camera up on a table and use the timer so that the camera will snap the image automatically. See if the picture is still blurry. If you don't have a tripod, just place it flat on the table.
