Question about Ovens

We have had the following problems with the cooker from new : - On occasion difficult to light tghe main cooker, as soon as you release the knob it goes out despite holding the knob in for various periods of time. The main cooker keeps going out on it's own when cooking. If you open the door to inspect or move food in the main cooker it goes out when you shut the door. The main cooker goes out on occasion if you move things on the hob The main cooker goes out when you turn down the temperature. It has been very frustrating especially when you put a joint of meat in for say 1 1/2 hrs and return to it after an hour to find that it has gone out. We don't know how long it has actually been on for and has resulted in many spoilt meals. The hob works fine and the top oven / grill appears to work ok although the grill only seams to grill items placed immediately under the flame, anything placed to the edges iof the grill pan don't cook.

The most probably and likely thing that is happening is that you have a bad pilot, and it's shutting off the gas valve. I'm not sure which model you have, but the following site has good troubleshooting information to help you:
http://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-repair-an-oven6.htm
Read the article, and it will inform you of the possible causes, and what action to take.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Just bought a Leisure Gourmet Classic gas cooker. Connected the gas and plugged it in but none of the burners will light. The ignition is working but no gas is getting through. Any ideas folks? TIA, Andy

I had a similar problem when my new Leisure cooker was installed last December. The burners would light when I held the knobs in but when I let go the flame would go out. The engineer took off each of the burner knobs and stuck a small wad of aluminium foil between the inside of the knob and the contact on the front of the cooker - he said it's a design fault and the gap is just a bit too large for contact to be made reliably. This fixed the problem and I've had no trouble since.

Hi there

I am a qualified electrician for more than 20 years.

You cannot blow the element by switching the oven switch on before the mains. If it has blown for any reason it will simply be because the element has a fault and needs replacing.

Hope that resolves your dispute. Please be kind enough to leave a comment to say i have solved your problem.

Thankyou

Morning I need help please regarding my gas oven (Beko SCG7530). The problem is when i turn the gas knob on,(push and hold for say 10 secs)the oven works fine, but as soon as the knob is released the gas...

Sugar,
Sometimes it takes a minute or longer for the thermocouple to get hot enough to send the correct voltage to the main part of the gas valve to get it open & the burners to light. If after a few attempts of turning the pilot knob to off, waiting a couple of minutes and then going thru the lighting process, your problem is the thermocouple. Most repair companies will NOT install YOUR parts because of the liability & warranty issue. The best bet is to call a repair co & explain what the problem is & tell them to bring a thermocouple with them. Sears or calling your local BBB is your best course.

Oven not heating

Hello.
If the fan is working, but there is no heat, then it is the fan oven element that needs to be replaced.
It has nothing to do with timer on this occasion.
Remove panel at rear of oven compartment, there you will see the round element.
Undo fixing screws, and remove element, disconnect leads and fit onto new element, refit new elemrnt, replace cover, and job done!!!

Please leave a fixya rating for my solution.
Thankyou
