SOURCE: setting up linksys wireless router with motorola 2210 dsl modem

One thing that isn't mentioned anywhere is the modem has to be in bridge mode. I was told this by a Linksys tech after doing all that was documented in the references article. I contacted my internet provider and they told me how to set the modem to bridge mode. This corrected the PPPoE error.

I have been given a linksys wag54gs with no instructions as to where the cables go, i want to get my son on the internet using his laptop via my pc

You should be able to download the manual and other documentation from linksys website. Since the router was givin to you, the first thing I would recommend is to "reset" the router by using a pencil or pen to press the small button located by the power plug on the back of the router. This will remove any passwords or settings the previouse owner had set.

If this is a adsl router (as it looks like it may be) your isp should also be able to help set it up for you.

LINKSYS WIRELESS - G WAG54GS

Diana, The router has lost its IP address from the ADSL gateway. Unplug the router from the wall for about a minute or two. Plug it back in..? If that doesn't work you need to login to your router and check the settings. or(there is a small reset button on the back of the router. Hold it in for 10 seconds the router will reset.) http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Content_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1114037290855&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Content_C1&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1114037290855&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper If possible turn your computers off while resetting the connection. Some inter Microsoft networks will issue its own IP if it doesn't detect one. Good Luck, Tim
