Kenmore side by side - Freezer cold Fridge warm

I have a 4 yr old Kenmore 106.55524400 side by side that is having a problem where the fridge side is note getting cold. Freezer side seems fine. This model has electronic temp settings. I think the fan runs but not sure. I have a service appoint for tomorrow with Sears to look at but they are offering a 1yr warranty agreement for $250 that will cover this and any other problems. Not sure if this is worth it if it's something stupid like a clogged vent. Any advise?

I have a Kenmore Coldspot model number 10652559100. The freezer works fine but the refridgerator doesn't stay cold enough. Is there a fan that is supposed to come on to circulate the air? The outlet in the upper left hand corner is cold, just not blowing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

We are in the same situation. Unit is 3 yrs old. It has been repaired by Sears 4 times now for the basically the same problem. The freezer seems to be working fine, but the refrigerator side is not cooling properly.

A word of advice--we didn't initally purchase the extended service plan, as the unit falls under a manufacturers warranty for the first year- our plan was to purchase it when the manufacturers warranty was up....however, the unit completely went out 9 months after we purchased it. Sears repaired it, under the manufacturers warranty, but strongly encouraged us to purchase the extended service plan (think it was about $139 for a year), which we did. They repaired the unit three more times in the next year--for a total of 4 times--but now refuse to replace the unit because the first time the unit was repaired, it wasn't covered under the SEARS service plan.

We refused to pay any more money to them for an extended service plan after that. It is ridiculous to pay nearly $1500 for a refrigerator, then have to continue to pay hundreds of dollars more every year just to keep the thing running properly. It seems the plans they offer serve only to protect their interests--not the consumer. We have purchased nearly every appliance we have ever had from Sears over the past 20 years---not any more.

I've been manually defrosting my coils for over a year. (you can use the diagnostic mode to do this, instructions are in the papers wedged into the grill). got tired of it and just called service. they think it is the computer. i'm going to buy a replacement board online and repair it myself. hoping this works.

Look in the louvers of the "gizmo" actuall calld an air diffuser to see if the sliding shutter is open or closed. If you can't see through it, it's closed. Could be a motor problem or, like mine was, have a broken shutter where the motor driven cam operated the shutter. I repaired mine but a new one is under $70.

I say check the fan at the evap. side, that blows the cold air from the freezer through the ducts to cool the other side.

Chances of recovering your investment in a case like this are few and far between. You had the thing for four years and now have this problem. One year is a long way from four. Casinos win more than they loose.

Check that the fan is operating. If the bottom of the fridge cold & the top warm then thats probably the issue.

Fridge warm, freezer has frost on back panel & is defrosting, fans work, just changed defrost thermostat, no air is moving from freezer side to fridge side, drain pan under fridge is dry

this fan needs to run when the compressor runs, check fan blade for being jammed by ice if you have this much ice on back wall as ice will stall motor,if no fan there will be no cool air to refrige compartment also the defrost drain tray will fill with water then freeze over which in turn floods the freezer floor and refrige compartments cause it cannot drain to the pan in the bottom

Kenmore refrigerator Freezer is cold but fresh food side is warm

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

It is a thermostat problem. It can be fixed but is sometimes cheaper to buy a new one.

Freezer works but refridgerator warm

you could find ice behind the back panel - worth a check. however the problem is probably ice in the return vent from fridge to freezer and the only way to cure is to switch off and leave for a day with doors open. if im right and you try this, if it re-occurs you may have a problem with the defrost system
