Sorry for the previous post. I put it in solutions rather than acknowledging that we have the same problem with our dryer. Can my original post be transferred to this post?

When I push start, get message that a power failure has occurred and need to push pause/start to continue. When I push the pause/start button, nothing happens and I get the same message. Have to do this numerous times until it finally starts. Sometimes, the panel display doesn't even work. Sometimes, the panel light just flashes. In both these cases, can't get the panel to work in order to push the start button...not that it would start anyway.

I am having the same problem the panel does not light up at all but when you open the dryer door the light comes on. I checked the circuit board to make sure nothing came loose everything was firmly attached. So I am guessing its the circuit board that's bad.

We are having the same problem. We have the Neptune dryer MDE5500AYZ. The control panel doesn't come on. We know it's getting electricity as the light in the dryer is on. Is there a reset button in the dryer?

Guys im a service tech in a metro area. iam currently having this same issue with the mde6800 neptune dryer. i have swapped out the board and it did not work. im getting a second board as i may have gotten a faulty one. i do believe that the thermistor is possibly causing an issue, but ive yet to confirm that also the door switch can be a problem area where it can not be making good contacts when engaged. have any of you had recent power failure or lightning storms? common cause of board faliures in appliances. something for you to look into. also with a milti-meter you can check for continuity of the thermistats and thermal fuses.

well i have found faulty wiring to the dryer on mine. i would get 240 on a single side of the power block where i should read 120. there for the board was not the issue, but power to the dryer was.

Neptune dryer MDE7500AYQ problems for several months. Symptoms: difficult to start (seemed to need to warm-up before it would turn over), screen flashing when door first opened, power failure error messages, left side of screen faded (seemingly from excess heat), custom program cycles deleted from memory, beeping when start function failed, screen flashing during cool down after use, and eventually the controls died completely... but the lamp inside the chamber burns on.
Service Tech advised replacement of below parts: Control Board (33002886), Control Panel (22003241) and Heater Relay (306199).

When problem first started, suspected a short in control board, since problem was only during initial start-up... once it was warm from running, start-up for each subsequent load seemed normal. To troubleshoot this, I used a hairdryer set to low, and using a side to side motion, warmed the control panel area. It worked for a while, until I could replace unit, as operating an appliance with a short is a fire hazzard and not recommended.

Its the control board causing p.f. and all other problems , replace the board and you will have fixed your neptune. replacement boards are usually revamped meaning less bugs and better chances at longevity but these are priced high as a part for a lexus would be.

I have a maytag Neptune dryer mde5500ayw. We had a very short power outage, and my dryer stopped working, the light in the drum would light up but no control panel lights. I changed out the control board, and no luck. The old panel did have ,what looked like burnt resisters on it. I had a professonal come out and look at my dryer. He tested the power going to the dryer and said the dryer was fine, just not enouh power getting to the dryer. He said the control panel did go bad in the power outage, but when it did it also took out the circuit breaker in my breaker box. I changed out the breaker for the dyer in the fuse box on the outside of the house and now the dryer works like new!!

When the dryer wont heat it is the thermal fuse that is bad, you can test it with a voltmeter before replacing. This fuse is located inside the rear panel and it cannot be reset.

Beep beep beep

Temporary Fix: unplug the dryer or cut its power at the circuit breaker panel, when not in use. If the dryer alerts/alarms are set to silent and the beeping happens when it's not in use, chances are it's the same beeping you hear when you first introduce power to the unit or press start. This may indicate a short affecting the control board. If you need to press start multiple times to get the dryer started, then the control board components are most likely starting to fail.
