Question about Garden

1 Answer

I have a sanli mulcher lawnmower about 3years old, always ervicedand looked after. last few uses its been gutless. today it was running but stopped. when I went to restart it, it made ratchetting sounds, and backfiring thru the carb and wouldnt start. cleaned plug etc and eventually pulled off rocker cover - inlet valve jammed open. took head off, cleaned valve etc reassembled. still wants to backfire thru carb. Now I'm wondering if its possible that the cam has jumped/stripped a couple of teeth, putting the valve timing out? Anyone know if they have metal or fibre gears for the valvetrain, A copy of a workshop manual would be helpfull!!

Never heard of a sanli. If the engine is backfiring, indeed it could be out of time. One sure way to check if it is out, is to see if the flywheel key is sheared.

Kia rio 2003 alternators burning up?

Check Alternator Voltage regulator if it fails it can send up to 18volts to the battery and make sure your battery is not too old usually most batterys will fail after around 2-3years causing the alternator to work harder . Also check your fuses someone may have put a wrong fuse somewhere. Don't buy a used alternator. Good luck.Student Mechanic LWIT Kirkland

I have an older Black & Decker electric lawnmower

Does the mower sound like it is running at full speed? Have you double checked that the blade was not installed upside down?

Craftsman 22hp 7500 zero turn mower 3years old.

Be careful - running ungoverned will quickly destroy the engine. Look at the carburetor throttle lever. There should be two linkages attached -- one from the manual throttle lever, another from the governor. The linkage to the governor is usually a spring. Perhaps that came off or broke, or a foreign object is wedged in there.

Is my Craftsman Mulcher lawnmower a 4 stroke or 2 stroke engine??

It should be a 4 stroke, the only thing I can find on it is the mulcher blades, set up called a side discharge mower. It has a 5.5 HP ,22 inch, briggs and stratton engine. Hope this helps.

Snapper push lawnmower worked fine last summer thru Sept. took it out today and can't get it to crank. Any suggestions to crank lawnmower after it sit up for 6 months?

Your carburator has old fuel that has turned to "varnish" essentially. It must be removed and cleaned. Next year, run the fuel all the way out so there is none left in it to turn to varnish.

My craftsman 6.75hp mrs lawnmower dies out after a few seconds. I've changed the spark plug, added oil and gas, and cleaned the filter. Any other suggestions? I don't know much about lawnmowers or...

You will have check the carburettor. If you cleaned the air filter, the right under it. Or if you follow the fuel pipe from the fuel tank it will run straight to the carb. Remove the round bowl at the base, it is held on with a small screw at the bottom. Clean this out and blow out the carb. with air. You may have to remove the whole carb. to clean it right. Good luck, Stephen.

Carby problem

The problem with it, is it's a tecumseh, The damn things run great, WHEN they run. Once they start to break down on you, you may as well use them as a boat anchor.
