Question about LG LDF6810 Built-in Dishwasher

Door won't latch to LG LDF6810ST

The latch broke last night when I shut the door & started the dishwasher. Now the door just falls open. Will not latch. The racks are not the problem. The latch appears to be broken in the "latched" position, because if you turn on the dishwasher, it will start to run with the door open. The machine is less than 6 months old.

I have a call in to service, but can someone tell me how time intensive this might be and how to keep it shut in the meantime? I have two small children (one is a crawler) who now think this is a very fun toy...and it's hazardous! I need help!

Thanks so much!

Is is the top latch, or the mechanism in the door, that is at fault?

  • Anonymous Dec 27, 2008

I have a 7810ST model that also will not close. We've had it for about 3 years, never had a problem until now. Now that it's full of dishes from Christmas day and leftovers it's decided to go on strike. We've put in all the calls, but noone appears to be open on weekends.

I appears that the latch just one close, can we reset the mechanism somehow?

    thanks

You have to pull out your unit about 3 inches to get to where the latch is screwed in. It is a phillips screw. The part number is 4026DD3001A. In the meantime to keep it closed you are going to have to get creative..

Why does door open too far and is not horizontal to the floor when open?

Besides spring streaches out over time or one rope breaks. Their are like three spots to hook spring to get tension for door. I just replaces both ropes as one broke and hooked springs in middle hole. Takes more time to pull washer out then to replace the ropes

The DE or DOE (Door open error) error or fault code indicates that the door is not latching properly. Check the lid or door operation to be sure it's not binding and that the door alignment is correct. Also, check the door/lid hinges to be sure they're not binding. Finally, make sure the door catch is in place and not broken. You may need to replace the door hook/catch or the door lock assembly.

Asko d3251 randomly stopping during cycle.

The thing that immediately comes to mind is a faulty door switch or latch. The door switch can be replaced and you might be ok. But the latch would be more tricky to check. Sometimes if dishwasher is not level or if the door springs are misalinged the door tends to slip and release the latch due to pressure. It works when you open and shut. But not sure about the night time cycle. That sounds a bit creepy if it starts again by itself. Why not put a tape around the door and then start. That will help eliminate the obvious ones. The other thing that exends dishwasher cycle time is the lack of adequate water temperature. Could be heater or thermostat or both.

Hi- It is possible that the door latch is not completely engaging. If the door dropped the hinges may have bent a little thus preventing a good contact with door switch. Try pressing and holding the door shut, hard, and pressing start. If that works then replace the latch assembly. It is also possible the membrane switch got rattled with the door falling, or a wire is grounding out somewhere. Hopefully it is just the latch. Hope this helps, good luck.

Detergent dispenser will not stay shut so the soap power falls out before washing starts. Last time use I opened the door by mistake part way through the cycle. Could this have messed up the latch...

Opening the door did not affect the latch on the dispenser. The catch does wear out and can be replaced. This involves disassembling the door and a small jigsaw puzzle of springs and levers. If you are attempting I would advise taking pictures to refer to before taking apart.

Door won't latchet

Start my using a bubble level to make sure the unit is squarely mounted. Even small amounts of offset or tilt in the unit can eventually cause the latching mechanism to fail to work properly.
