Question about BenQ Joybook 8000 Notebook

1 Answer

My joybook R55U V10 suddenly does not power up. It has no lights, despite the powerpack being connected. Same symptons exist with a different powerpack and with another battery installed. Is there a fuse on the laptop? What next?

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

Dell inspiron one 2305 power supply short

This is due to a bad cable and/or LCD Inverter board. I would replace both. Had this problem before and it's definitely the pointing at the LCD Inverter and it's connectivity to the motherboard. Dont just by the board, get both board and cable, US$35 on Ebay.

Tried replacing the bulb...but the lamp light still blinks red and no tv

Next thing to check is the ballast - There are other things that will stop the lamp coming and the next thing after the ballast is the power to the ballast which should be between 250-300 volts from the powerpack, if not the powerpack is the trouble, it may have bad capacitors on it preventing the feed to the ballast, a multimeter needs to be connected across the input to the ballast for this voltage

I get a red light on my powerpack

i think that means that the connection between the power brick and the xbox isnt working, either your xbox needs repair or you need a new power brick, ask a friend with a 360 if you can borrow theirs and also their wires for the powerbrick and if it works then YOU need a new powerbrick and if it doesnt then your xbox is broken

If you are getting no lights at all on the laptop, you need to check the "powerline" - everything between the outlet and the back of the laptop.

Start by removing the battery. Then, check to see if the power pack has an ON light, if it does, make sure it is on, if it has a light and it is off, try plugging the power pack into a different outlet you know works. If it is still off, you have a bad powerpack and needs replacing. If the powerpack does not have a light, you need to find a geek friend with a multimeter (or get one at WalMart for $4), and check the powerpack's output in volts matches whatever it says on the side of the pack. If the voltages do not match up (generally) you have a bad powerpack. If you are getting normal voltage from the powerpack but the laptop is not getting any power, you have a different set of problems. Is the laptop beeping when you try to turn it on? Do you get any activity at all?

Good luck...
