This is a mechanical and not software/driver problem
I had the same problem. It was due to the right button being stuck.
I was sure it had to do with the contact and was dismayed to find ot you need special equipment to unscrew the back of the monitor off...
But luckily i solved it by flipping the button with my nail at the edge of the button.
The sudden press&release got it unstuck...
Hope this helps :)

,,, unfortunately the problem returned and it seems to be related to the microcircuit board of the OSD buttons. After selecting the OSD option from the menu: reset>menu>yes pressing the menu button for 10 secs locks the controls and then there is the annoying "attention monitor controls locked" message popping up all the time which then boils down to service or disposal...

update: After opening the cover I poured some ethyl alcohol on the faulty OSD button next to the menu and fingers crossed it works fine now for more than an hour (without any of the annoying pop ups or auto increases of the contrast....) Fingers crossed this will last or else I read that you can completely remove the connection of the buttons microcircuit board provided the settings are good - I didnt try it since it works well with the cleaning. See what I did:

Unplug all cables from the monitor so as not to get an electric shock!
Lay it on a flat surface and remove the 3+1 screws from the back. Remove carefully the back cover. There are 7 clips up and down and 5 clips left and right every 4 cm or so, they are tricky to take them apart but if you use a flat screwdriver and put it between the front and back cover press inside a little bit and twist it you can make it.
Take off the buttons board after unscrewing the two screws and pour generously ethyl alcohol on the button(s) contacts. Let it dry and assemble again. If it works fine say thanks to God and me and drink a beer :)

Philips monitor osd locked

you have to carefully force open the clipped back case of the monitor and disconnect completely the cable to the front control buttons, then the monitor works fine though no adjustments can be made

Brightness set to all the down

There should be a menu button on the monitor. Press this button, it has it's own brightness settings. Press the "factory settings" button; monitor should return to normal brightness.

Has it got power? Is it turned on? Is the PC attached to it? First check all your cables & power outlet.

To adjust the brightness and contrast, do the following:

1. Press the either the Minus button and highlight the option you wish to change.
2. Press the Menu button to select the highlighted option.
3. Press the - or + buttons to adjust the brightness/contrast settings.
4. Press the Menu button again to accept the changes.

My acer AC713 monitor's brightness value gets reduced to zero.

Dear sir,

This is common problem arises mainly due to moisture, especially in rainy season,Monitor front panel control buttons remain pressed, due to deposition of ferric oxide and moisture in between monitor botton panel and circuit board. So you can dry this moisture by hanging a bulb of 60 watt nearer a monitor about 4-5 hrs,(too near may damage the internal heat sensitive parts.).It solves your problem.....and also you may clean the inner monitor button contacting circuit by means of PCB cleaner to wipe out ferric oxide deposition.
if you had any query regarding this issue leave a feedback we glad to assist you.

good luck.
