Thank you for your post on FixYa. I am experiencing SAME F1 error at startup and has now progressed to 17 minute mark! What was the part number that you ordered and where did you order from? Maybe a way to get Sears is to fix all of them ourselves and take away their repair profits? thanks for the info...
NOTE: Be sure to unplug the washer to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.
There is a slight possibility that a problem with the pressure switch hose could be causing this problem.
A pinched or twisted air hose can cause this fault code.
When you open the console, check the air hose connected to the pressure switch on the machine control board.
If it is pinched or crimped, I recommend rerouting the hose to resolve this problem.
This may fix your problem without replacing the control board.
NOTE: You may want to check for this condition before ordering the control board. Most electronic control boards cannot be returned for a refund or credit.
If you find no apparent problems with the air hose on the pressure switch, then replacing the machine control board on this washer should correct your problem. There is a risk involved in replacing this part yourself.
As noted above, you could have a problem with the air pressure hose that is not apparent upon your initial inspection. A service technician would normally need to properly and thoroughly diagnose this problem before replacing the control board.

likely the problem is a bad control board, aka a clock/timer. Usually F1 error codes do refer to main board or main control error in which you would have to replace the control. You can also try shutting off the breaker for 7 minutes which sometimes does make the control reset but this only works maybe 10 percent of the time due to the F1 error code. If you need the part number of the control message me back your full model number and serial number as well. Thank you Rick
Thanks for using FixYa. Error F1 indicates primary control failure and to resolve this you'll have to replace the machine control assembly. This error should be fixed by whirlpool as its a common issue with whirlpool Cabrio washers, you can call 1-800-253-1301 whirlpool will send a tech. to fix it and pay for the part. Please rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.
Hello, our carbio began flashing the F1 error code at 18 months. I have to hit
the pause/start 4 or 5 times to get the cycle to begin. It also flashes
occasionally at the rinse cycle (17 min.) I have called Whirlpool 3
times with little satisfaction. They have offered to pay for the part,
but I will be responsible for the service call, diagnostic fee, and
labor. I am not satisfied with this offer. It is obvious to me with so
many others experiencing the same problem that Whirlpool has a quality
issue with this machine. The sales rep who sold me the machine said to
call Whirlpool everyday until they are sick of hearing from me. The
more calls logged about the complaint, the better chance of a recall on
the machine. If this is not resolved, I will NEVER buy Whirlpool again.
I have started a petition to be sent to the CEO of Whirlpool Corp., Jeff Fettit. Follow the link, and please sign it! The more the better! Spread the word! You may also copy and post it to any other groups/discussions about this problem.
Hi Thanks for using FixYa. F1
error means that the flood switch has been activated. You’ll need to reset it by powering off the
breaker or by unplugging the unit from the power socket and mains for more than
five minutes. Please check that there is no blockage in the drain hose and it
is not raised higher otherwise the water will run back to the dishwasher. Also
perform the following procedure---
Unplug power and
remove bottom dish drawer
a Sponge and dry all the excess water underneath
circuit board cover
all around and underneath as much as possible
hairdryer for 10-15min
Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or
else revert for further assistance. Thanks Rylee
Very glad that you are receiving some assistance from the manufacturer on the this issue. I have assisted many folks with this particular problem and will be interested to see what is done on your machine to remedy the problem. I will appreciate it if you will keep us informed. Thank you.
there is a factory defect in the control circuit board of this washer, read and call the number. post is from another owner.
I called 800-659-7026, which seems to be a 3rd party "recall" center for appliance companies, for my F1 error code. All Kenmore HE Elite Oasis machines with Serial Numbers beginning with CS48-CT49 are in the process of being recalled; however the mailings haven't gone out to customers due to hold-ups in legal with wording. Machines with these serial numbers require an upgraded control board and it takes about 10 business days for the part to come in. They ordered it with no questions asked and are coming out July 14th to replace it free-of-charge
Whirlpool did a recall on this problem here is there number try this first. Whirlpool 1-800-253-1301 On a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being
a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using
a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above
as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as
well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting.
To check the ERC and touchpad
Disconnect the power
Gain access to the back of the ERC
Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
reconnect the power and switch on
Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it
will need replacing
If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the
beep, replace the touchpad
