Try formatting the drive using NTFS and re -copy your stuffs again. If it fails to copy as you want, then delete the partition and format it again .

I assume by you saying you didn't get any memory back that it still has the files on them or it looks that way. Now when you copied them did you just drag them over? When you go back to the thumb driver or the files still on there? usually when you copy all you are doing is just that copying you are not removing the files from the original source. If you copy them and then you would like to delete them just access the thumb drive again and then delete the files and you should get the space back.
thank you,

It has password protection. Open My Computer on your PC, insert the USB drive, open the password file, enter your password, then select the option to remove password protection from the USB drive. I'm Windows XP... I can copy many files to the Verbatim. But when I try to copy a 1GB+ file, the copy craps out. I Googled and found some Microsoft problem when copying 1GB+ files to external drives, but...

The usual limit is exactly 2GB, not 1GB.
It's a limitation of the file-system used for the directory of the disk-drive, when formatted according to the 'FAT32' specifications.

So, copy all the files currently on the Verbatim to your disk-drive.
Then, "reformat" the external (not the "internal") disk-drive, using the 'NTFS' file-system. This file-system has a maximum-file-size limitation for one file that is _much_ larger than the capacity of your Verbatim.

Then, copy all the "saved" files back onto the Verbatim.

Finally, copy your "large" files onto the Verbatim.

Trying to up date drivers on drive to windows 7

You really shouldn't need any software to View and Cut, Copy, Paste files to your 4GB Flash Drive. You can usually use these Flash Drives just as you would a DVD, CD, or Disk. When you first plug in your 4GB drive, it should be detected and should automatically install the "Drivers" and then, it should show up as a "Drive" in "My Computer". If this doesn't happen then you have "Other" problems. Check that the drive is OK by trying it in another machine.

How to use flash drive

Cruzer Micro is an USB external memory where you can store files.
It is automatically detected and installed on all Windows OS from Windows 2000 onward, same on Mac OS and recent Linux versions.
All you have to do is plugging the device into USB.
After the flash drive had been automatically installed , it will be displayed under Computer as an external disk.
You can copy and transfer files using Cut, Copy and Paste functions, or Send to function in windows, or the file manager, depending on the OS used.
In Windows, before unplugging the memory from USB , it is better to turn off the computer or use the 'safely remove USB' function located near to the clock, on the lower right hand corner.
