Question about Panasonic AG-DV2000 Mini DV VCR

2 Answers

AG-DV2000 Panasonic deck won't load small tapes. I've read the solutions posted. It seems to load OK then I see extra tape on the take-up reel side. Then I get a F11 code. Osvaldogusta said he adjusted the 'link transport mechanism'. Would this be of help. I do have the service manual, volume 1. I don't see that in the book. Any help is appreciated. Ed

Abrsvcs is right - the takeup reel is not operating. The AG-DV2000 uses two direct drive reel motors - there are no belts or idlers. Check the ribbon cable connecting the takeup reel motor to the mechanical drive board; if this is OK, next suspect would be electrolytic capacitors on the drive board. You will need to remove the mechanism from the deck to check these.

If you are seeing tape collect inside the unit, the takeup side is not functioning correctly. This may be as simple as a belt change or idler change. This is not a repair I would suggest that you start with. The alignment of the tape is critical to proper functioning. I would geuss that the "link support mech" is probably just the belt/idler assembly or it is a "mode" switch. In any case, this unit should be sent in for repair. As part of that repair, the conformance to industry standards.

Relace mainboard in mini dv tape deck

what symptom does it have? describe what it is/isn't doing; most of the problems I've seen with AG-DV2000s are related to either defective capacitors on the mechanism drive board or dried grease on the reel table positioning arms. I've never had to replace a main board in a 2000.

Cleaning is a good first step. If cleaning the deck doesn't work, it may need a tape path alignment.

Panasonic AG-DV2000 Mini DV loading problem

the "dv sensor"is actually a mechanical lever built into the cassette housing that moves the reel tables to match the reel spacing on mini or full-size DV tapes. check to see if this assembly is free to move. if it binds up, the reel tables may not move as far as they need to, and can cause problems similar to the one you're seeing. to inspect the mechanism, you need to remove the cassette housing. if you don't have a service manual, get a tech to help -- it's a delicate procedure for the inexperienced.
