Question about Dewalt 7.2-18.0 Volt One Hour Charger

1 Answer

I have a blown diode in the circuitry of my Dewalt DE116-xe charger. The number on the diode is P6KE51A with 727 under it. I was wondering where I might be able to purchase one of these diodes or perhaps get a circuit diagram from. Frank

I bought 20 of those from Allied electronics using your original part #. I can tell that I have worked 5 of those chargers and that is not the only part blown. Usually 2 diodes on the left, 2 of the 3904 transistors, the 2 amp fuse, the 2 resistors (2.4 ohm and .1 ohm ) in front of the mosfet which is probably bad also. I now have one with a bad 18 pin dip ic that I can't find the ic anywhere (it is surely propriatary). I have looked for a schematic for a long time and thats how I found this thread. Good luck.

Dewalt DE9116 Type 2 c32 and fuse blown . what is the value of c32

A fuse blown ? measure always first the mosfet irf740 if thats not shorted that could be the cause of the defect in case ? or some of the 4 primary bridge diodes replace 1n5408 or by299 presumably c32 its a blue or black high-voltage capacitor .i don,t know for sure but lies in the expectations this is a repair suggestion that could be to find in some popular Dewalt chargers , and do a error research proof allways over a 200w lamp thats in serial with the loader power cable if you make error research to find the part that caused the problem. then you will not blow up parts again if the cause is not find in priority , but a variac and oscilloscope can also be used.

DC9310 charger was pluged into a 220v by mistake. What fried and can I replace it?

Most likely all of the power control circuitry, charging circuitry, and voltage regulating circuitry. At this point, your best bet would be to look for a used one on line.

Charger for dewalt 18volt drill burned out a diode need to know what to replace it with to burned out to tell ??

I had to replace that on one of mine. It is not a regular diode. P6KE51A Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) Diode. That is the part # on the USA model. A European model may use different #. 8645a6dd-c755-4fe7-a00b-699ca51bc6af.jpg

DeWalt charger #DW9107 binks eraticly, even when battery is not installed, DC output is 35 volts, which is too high, the reading across all of the diodes on the circut bd in the converter circut is 5.8...

There could be a number of things wrong inside the charger, and could cause more problems trying to replace components on the board. Your best bet is to look on ebay or some other place to see if you can get a replacement charger.

My dewalt drill charger started smoking when i put the battery in although it wasn't even pluged in to the wall and now won't work

If this is for the 14 and 18 volt batteries, this is what I found had occured on one model I repaired (I've forgotten the charger model number):

It had a shorted diode (the bad one had obvious burn marks on the pc
board). I used an NTE 5809 diode to replace the original one. BTW you'll need
a Tamperproof Torx T-10 to open the case to access the pc board.

My dewalt radio stopped working. I plugged it in, no power. I charged the battery and put the battery in and no power ?

Check fuses inside. Check fuse and connections in plug. If this is a 110v radio there is one on transformer winding.

Dewalt charger

Ok, for easy way, you can just put a 1~2A diode in series of the input 240v power wire, so the after voltage would be around 120v, but for precaution it is better that you put two diode in series, it will give you same result. In addition, I have already tested it on a similar charger, it works fine.
p.s: I do have a similar one that is also 110v, I compared it with other 240v one. They worked same.
