Hi, I don't know if this is much help to you now as it has been a while since you posted your problem. I had the exact same problem and after a lot of swearing and 2 days and no help what so ever from LG I took matters into my own hands.
I took the top off the the machine and removed the small steel plate, you will know what I am talking about after you have done the same.
I had my hubby hold the tub back as far as possible and used a screw driver to release the latch which is at the front of the machine about half way down. You will see a small silver steel knobby looking thing. After the machine was finally opened I unscrewed the screws on the inside of the door and used a flat screw driver to prise the housing apart. Be careful not to drop the glass window as when the housings start coming apart the window is no longer secure.
I found that a small piece of plastic on the handle had perished and broken not allowing the correct function. A phone call to Sunstate spare parts got the new handle to me within a few days at a cost of $20.95.
My only problem now is putting the bloody thing back together. I have been at it for 3 days with no sucess. If you manage to work out how to put yours together please let me know. I hope this has helped and hasnt come too late.

Try turning off the cold water valve, unscrewing the cold fill hose, remove inlet screen, clean screen, reassemble and turn water back on.

SOURCE: My washing machine LG
Had the same problem with a slightly different model. Had to remove and replace the water pump at the front of the machine. Phillips screwdriver and some pliers are all you need. The pump had leaked past the shaft seal where the impeller is and got gunked up. New pump was $48.00 NZ dollars inc gst.

SOURCE: LG FRONT LOAD WASHER MODEL.
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(It COULD be that there is water still inside which is why the machine keeps the door locked. It therefore could be a problem with the drain filter or the drain motor. I'm having to guess!)
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
Here are my complete, general pre-typed guidance notes for checking filters and motors ;-0)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!
Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

The cause of this is almost always something blocking between the outlet of the dispenser housing
usually it is the large hose that goes from the dispenser to the top of the tub itself if you remove the 2-3 screws along the back of the machine and slide the top cover towards the rear of the machine and then remove the top cover completly this will give you access to this area Usually you will find a large soap deposit or debris stuck in this hose or near the outlet of the soap dispenser housing itself . You have to remove the top cover in order to physicly clean and check these areas if you have any further questions message me back and please also remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation Thanks Rick
