Touch pad

i am using lenovo 3000y 500 series lapptop and my touch pad is not working even continuously i am installing the driver files from cd alongwith my pc came.
i am using windows vista home basic

Right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Select Device Manager from the list on the left in the window that pops up, and on the right look for any yellow question marks. Maximize the "Mice and other pointing devices" section (if it exists) and see if your device is listed there. What is it called?

Chek the color of the light attached above the Touch-pad.
That must be Yellow.
Click the button just by the side of the touch-Pad.
It will be green. You should be able to use the Touch-pad then.
