The specs say that it has an optical audio in on your home theater system. So the easiest way to hook up is to connect the optical audio out of your tv to the optical audio in of your home theater system and walla! What ever play on the tv will play on the home-theater system. You are looking for a Toslink optical audio cable http://cgi.ebay.com/6-OPTICAL-FIBER-OPTIC-TOSLINK-DIGITAL-AUDIO-CABLE-6-FT-/370402436177
Have you resolved this issue yet? I am in a similar position. recently upgraded my TV to a flat screen, also purchased a Blu-Ray but the SC-HT880 is now useless. How can I use the surround sound to work on TV? do I need to purchase an Amp?
2 hdmi inputs on samsung tv? different ways you can do it.if it was me i would run samsung blue ray to tv hdmi in,shaw box [if supported hdmi]to tv in, if not coax.
and i would sound out on tv to yamaha?
Plug a yellow video cable into the TV (IN) and the Sound system (Out) then go onto AV1 on the TV or which ever port you plugged the cable into and play a movie and u can see it. A menu doesnt come up like the A ipod funtion so it comes up no signal until u play an actual movie on the ipod. If u dont have a yellow video cable i think u can use the white or red audio ones.
I was moving around my large woofer speaker last night and then all of a sudden the unit went into protection mode. I tried all the various solutions posted on here and nothing worked. Then I went back to my speaker connections on the woofer and unplugged them and plugged them in again and it seems to be ok now. Very annoying problem. Can I suggest unplugging all the speaker cables and replugging them back in. Also another solution may have been holding down the power button when powering up the unit. Give all the above a try.
