You can delete the files you don`t want and if you don`t want any of them then format it back to factory settings.

Once it starts make sure to backup all your essential data. Then download the diagnostic disk utility from the disk manufacturer website and check the disk for errors.

Alternatively, check the SMART status of your disk by downloading Passmark SMART monitor.

SMART is used to measure your HDD health. It warns you of impending failure of your hard drive. If it goes down, it's a good idea to backup important stuff and prepare to replace the HDD.

S.M.A.R.T is an acronym for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology systems (SMART) and it's usually built in to most modern ATA and SCSI hard disks.

Hello

The smart control inside the hard drives is to let you know that a drive is about to fail. If you restart your computer and bring up the BIOS you should be able to shut off the SMART warnings. That wont fix your drive, but at least you wont be bothered ...

I would copy the info off that drive asap and save it. SMART is not always right, but its right most of the time and problems will come.

Best of LUCK

SMART Failure Predicted on Hard Disk 0: st9100824as-(s1)) WARNING: Immediatelly back-up your data and replace you hard **** drive. A falure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue

Hi sqarrab,

A SMART Drive failure indicates that your hard disk is about to die. Sometimes it will last a few says, sometimes even months. Refer the link below for more information.

I suggest you keep a backup of all your data as soon as possible. Once the hard disk fails, there's nothing you can do to get your data back. To get rid of the message, buy a new hard drive, and then copy back all your data.

IIT IS SHOWING SMART FAILURE PREDICTED ON HARD DISK 2 THEN AFTER TRYING TO START IT SAID CRITICAL REPLACE HARD DISC DRIVE

HI There, you have hardware monitoring enabled (which ever vendor software you are using).
This error states there has been too many read/write errors. The disk is coping by writing to another area of disk, however it is confirming you WILL need to replace the drive in a controlled manner before the disks dies. Then this is uncontrolled and risk data loss.
if disk mirror or using raid 5, just swap out the faulty disk.
If it is the ONLY disk or no raid disk sets involved.
MUST backup your data.
Swap the faulty disk.
Rebuild and/or restore your data from your most recent backups. good luck...

Hard Disk Problem

That failure is predicted by the SMART reporting system. Its a status chip on the drive that reports to apps that can read the smart data from the hard drive. Its not always accurate but it usually is.

Time backup your data on that drive ASAP and then buy a new drive.

Problem on start up of an acer 5630

Hi there
The drive is corrupt so you will need to plug it to another computer as a slave drive if you need the data from the drive, once you are satisfied you have all of your data you can then buy a new drive and proceed with a clean install of windows

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!

ACER SMART failure

SMART means self monitoring and reporting tool, this is the option which performs certain test for the status of hard disk health, if its coming it means condition of your hard disk is not good, its better if you immediately back up your data and replace it, by the way you can also disable this warning through the bios, just disable the smart feature in hard disk

here's what you should do.. first, as mentioned, you should backup all your important files in another drive or an optical drive... once you have done it, format your hard drive and perform scans to check the error.. during scan, you will see errors on it and you may not be able to fix it since the drive is internally damaged.. purchase a new one ok? just make sure to backup all your files..
