There are versions of this radio on different bands, some versions will not work on the Australian 477MHz CB channels even if reprogrammed.

Reporgramming the radio requires the software and a programming cable. Ask you radio supplier if the software and a cable is available.

If the radio is a version that will work and you manage to reprogram it it may work but will not be legal to use on the Australian UHF CB system because it is not type approved.

Re Uh8060S new unit cannot move off channel 80 nothing in manual explains. Can you help?

The manual tells you how to preset the Channel when you turn it on if you don't want channel 80. The normal is 16. It tells you how to scan channels and it tells you how to step up and down through the channels. Read from Page 3 with the unit in your lap.

How can I get my midland 9001z from AM to FM

Hi Trevor,

The Midland radio you have is NOT capable of FM transmit & receive. It is a Citizen's Band radio that operates on channels 1 thru 40 that are assigned to the 26.965-27.405 MHz frequency range. These are the standard 40 Ch CB frequencies in the U.S. (and may not be legal for use in other parts of the world without a license from your country's communications authorities). It also offers Weather Band reception - again these are US frequencies that may or may not even be used at all in the UK. Since the radio only displays a channel number, you don't actually know the frequency you're monitoring or transmitting on. Your friends on CH 5 may be in a completely different band.

Even if they are on the same frequency, the fact that they are operating in FM mode means that you would hear something - but it may not be intelligible - and the same would be for them listening to you transmit in AM mode. If you could have them switch their radio to AM, all would be fine. I suspect they use FM as there is much less static when compared to AM.

If they won't change to FM, you'll either have to stop trying to talk to them or buy a radio capable of FM (and make sure it has the same frequencies as theirs!).

Good luck!

Fix my connex 3400 hb sideband button

Hi there, if you are talking about the Connex CX 3400 HP there is no sideband or SSB on this radio. It is only AM and FM 10 meter Ham radio. Many people do modify these radios to include the 11 meter frequencies which is the CB band. Maybe knowing the actual bands and their frequencies will help some too this radio does have 6 different bands ranging from (Band A. 28.015 thru 28.455) (Band B. 28.145 thru 28.585) (Band C. 28.115 thru 28.555) (Band D. 28.085 thru 28.525) (Band E. 28.055 thru 28.495) (Band F. 28.025 thru 28.465.) I hope this will help you. Bob

Cobra 19 DX IV, I bought this unit in america, but i live in the U.K. and can't pick up any channels, does this unit Only work in america, can i get somthing for it to work in england??? Thanks...

  • The UK uses more FM frequencies than AM frequencies. So the CB will work over there just fine but you will need to find someone who uses them frequencies as well or it may no be much fun. Here is a frequency chart for what we in America call import radios shipped from over there. http://macuk.org.uk/cbchart.htm 27.555 FM is the main frequency used in the UK but the Cobra 19 is a strictly AM CB. Also on the link on the far right are the standard 40 channel frequencies from the UK version of CB's and not one is the same as the Cobra 19 as the UK uses FM for their 40 channel CB radios.
  • Here is the 40 channel CB frequency chart utilized in America http://www.csgnetwork.com/cbradiofreq.html
  • Hope this clarifies things for you.

What services use radio frequencies from 46mhz to 46.390 mhz

You have not told us which country you are in. You are probably in the UK since that is where a radio covering 46-46.39MHz is most likely to be found. The frequencies are generally not used in the UK. Be aware that radio transceivers with this coverage are still illegal to possess, use or offer for sale in the UK.

I jus was wondering, can the cb radio and the handheld radio transmit on the same channel? Im a security officer and im interested in purchase a cb radio so we can use it at work but i dont know if its...

CB radios and hand-held CB radios can operate on the same channel and be in contact with each other. Other hand-held radios do not operate on the same frequencies and even though they may have channel numbers the channels have different frequencies and will not operate to CB radios.

How do i find the FM frequency for a Connex CX-4300-300 CB radio?

FM is just a form of modulation, not an actual frequency. The frequency doesn't change between any of the modes (LSB, USB, AM, FM, CW).

For example, if you are on channel 19 (27.185MHz) on AM (Amplitude Modulation,) switching to FM (Frequency Modulation) mode you would still be at 27.185MHz, but using a different form of modulation.
