When a video downloads to your computer it is done in small bits according to your connection speed -- this is called buffering. If you notice, a bar at the bottom of the video window moves bit by bit between each of the little "play" episodes --you can tell how far it has gone by how far the bar moves to the right. When it pauses in-between it is downloading the next portion. Depending on your connection speed and the length of the video it can take lots of stops and starts to DL the whole video. When it finishes the bar has reached the end, or if it is done the screen will say "Replay". Sometimes there is a little window that tells you how long the video is and also how many minutes you have so far DLed.

Is it ALL videos over the internet? What about YouTube, is that playing full videos for you? Make sure your Flash player is up to date and check to see if there are any Windows updates that you should install.

Tip

Enable Dreamscene

Windows Vista Ultimate has a great feature of putting video as your desktop background. A lot of windows XP and windows Vista (non ultimate) user wanted to do the same. Here is how it can be done using a free and popular software. VLC player.

To set and play a video as wallpaper in Windows XP, Windows Vista Home Premium, Home Basic, Business, Enterprise and Starter edition:
  1. Download and install VLC Player for Windows.
  2. Run VLC Media Player, go to Settings -> Preferences, expand Interface and click on wxWidgets. In the bottom right corner of “wxWidgets interface module” window, click on “Advanced options” to show advanced settings. Then uncheck the Taskbar check box in order to remove VLC Player title from the taskbar while the program is running. Check Systray icon if you want to enable Systray (system tray or notification area) icon instead.
  3. Next, expand Video -> Output Modules and then select Direct X. In bottom right corner of DirectX Video Output window, check the Advanced Options check box in order to see all the settings available. directx-video-output.jpg
  4. Check and tick the “Enable wallpaper mode” check box.
  5. Then, select Playlist and then check or tick the Repeat current item checkbox.
  6. Press “Save” button when done.
  7. Open and play any video that you would like to set as motion wallpaper in VLC Media Player.
  8. If the video hasn’t yet been set as desktop background, right click on the video and click on “Wallpaper”.
  9. The video or movie will be set as if it’s DreamScene motion desktop background wallpaper.
If you do not configure VLC Player to repeatedly play current media in loop, you can still do so after playing the video. Simply click on View then select Playlist. Highlight the video media content that is playing and click on Repeat One or Repeat All button as shown below to loop the video for non-stop video wallpaper.

Note that the video must be encoded in a video format supported by VLC Player such as MPEG, AVI, MP4, WMV, FLV (Flash Video) and etc. Else you will need to convert the video clip to the supported format.

I cant find my webcam in facebook

Click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there if you are have trouble with your webcam Click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark? right click to reinstall drivers or update driver xp Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7 http://download.cnet.com/2000-20_4.html on the home page you should see a search tab just type in what you are looking for IE: webcam name webcam driver you might have to try a few times to get it right tick in either windows software or the all software box. If you don't have or cant find the driver you will need to download one here rather doing a driver hunt which can take hours http://download.cnet.com/slimdrivers-free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html It might take some time being a freeware driver solution Note: This will find all of your outdated drivers This program will automatically search for and find the correct driver you will have to update every driver individually once you update you might be asked whether you want to restart or make a system restore point. Click no to both of these then continue updating each driver free then restart once all of the drivers have been updated. Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right. But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer b> b> Go to Facebook and log into your account. Click the "Profile" tab. Click the "Video" link in the "Status" menu. Select the "Record a Video" option. For privacy reasons, Facebook requests permission to access your webcam and microphone. Check the box next to "Allow" and click "Close." You will appear in real time on the Facebook webcam window. Position yourself in front of the webcam and click the red "Record" button to begin recording your new video. When you're finished, press the "Stop" button. Click the "Play" button to view your video. If you want to post it on your profile, add a brief message and click "Share." If you're not satisfied with the outcome, press "Reset" and record a new video. b> Video Message Log into your Facebook account Navigate through your friends list and select the friend you want to send a video message to on Facebook. Click the "Send Message" link in the upper-right corner of your friend's page. Click the "Video" icon in the attachments section at the bottom of the "New Message" window. Check the box next to "Allow" to give Facebook permission to access your webcam and microphone, and then click "Close." Press "Record" and record your new video message. Click "Stop" when you're finished recording. When you're finished recording, you can press "Play" to preview your video.

Do i have to have adobe flash player in my computer?

You have to have the free Adobe flash player in order to be able to view most of the sites at the internet. These sites that use flash media player are not able to open in Internet Explorer without the flash player plug in. You can check at various sites (http://www.877.gr, http://www.bestradio.gr, http://www.vfm883.gr)

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

I cannot play videos on UTube with my IPad. The videos stop every few seconds as if they are reloading . am I doing something wrong or is it because of the"NO Flash" issue with Apple?

It could be the speed (or lack of it) of your Internet connection -- you cannot download fast-enough to provide "real-time" video. When you start to download a video, press PAUSE, and let the download continue for a minute or two. Then, click PLAY, to view the already-downloaded stream.

HOW TO DOWNLOAD U TUBE CLIPS

Hello!

Follow this steps:

- download first a downloader or grabber (I recommend ORBIT downloader v2.8.10) and install it.
- after you install ORBIT, run the program ORBIT then under TOOLS find GRAB++ and click it
(GRAB++ is a file grabber, it can grab mp3 file, video and etc, this program should be open first
before playing any music or video)
- assuming you had finished installing ORBIT and run the program GRAB++, open YOU TUBE and play any video, then look at the GRAB++ program, you should be able to see FLV files check the file and click download, then that's it.

Hope I was able to help.

Alwais buffering

Online videos usually play with the media player you have installed. If you didnt have the correct player installed it would tell you when you go to click play, bysaying you need to download Windows Media player for example.
There are three main problems that can cause this:
Firstly, you media player that you currently have installed may be out of date. Updates are normally free at the main site for which ever media player you have.
Secondly, slow internet connections can lengthen the time it takes for the video to download -as essentially thats what the buffering is, it downloads all the information to your computer to enable you to play it.
Thirdly, that particular site may be receiving alot of traffic at the particular time you want to play items. Websites run on bandwidth, and if there are alot of users playing the media at the same time as you, the bandwidth is quickly 'eaten up', which slows everyones downloads.
I find I get this problem alot at certain times on you tube. The best way to combat this is to press pause and wait for the whole of the buffering process to take place before you press play. This will give you an un-interrupted play of the media.
I usually open a second window and select the next item I want to play, pausing it and letting the buffer run. By the time I've done this I usually find the first is ready to go.

Sometimes they enable you to play items withi an install of an active X component - again if you dont have the right one you will get a pop up asking you to install it.
The best solution is to upgrade your media players for free on the main sites, and then just press pause until the media has buffered. I often get this problem as mentioned above on sites which have a low bandwidth, even though I have a high broadband bandwidth. This is simply because their bandwidth cant cope with the demand of many people playing at once, high bandwidth costs exra money for them to get on their site, so smaller and larger sites are well known for only having just enough of it to enable people to view the media, but in the process it slows down their bufering processes.

Videos Dosent work

You don't need Video drivers to play your media files, you need codec plug-ins to play your media formats with your installed media players.

Codec download site: http://www.free-codecs.com/

Alternatively you can install the MpcStar player from : www.mpcstar.com/ which plays most of the media formats.

When i try to play videos from youtube.com I cant get any sound even when I turn the volumne button up on the video

try this
  1. Visit a web page with a Flash video embedded on the page.
  2. Click on the Flash video to activate the Flash plugin (only on SP2 or above), then right click on video to display the Flash properties menu. flash-settings.jpg
  3. Click on “Settings” on contextual menu, then click the “Advanced…” button. flash-advanced-settings.jpg
  4. A new web page window will launch loading Adobe – Flash Player – Manager. On the left pane, click on “Global Storage Settings Panel” link under “Flash Player Help Settings Manager” sub-section under “Table of Contents” section.
  5. A Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager applet will load on the right pane as a Flash object. Check (tick) the “Allow third-party Flash content to store data on your computer” checkbox so that it’s checked. The settings should be auto-save, if the setting is not saved, try to close all Internet Explorer or Firefox web browser windows and launch the Flash Manager to set the option again. flash-global-storage-settings.jpg
  6. Try to play Flash video. The sound should be played properly.
If the above guide does not solve the problem that video clips from Youtube, VideoSift, Break, Google Videos, Dailymotion, Yahoo, and other video sharing websites play no sound on external sites while audio output fine when viewing the video on video hosting sites itself. Another possible cause is that the Flash contents which is cached get corrupted or damaged, preventing audio streaming from working correctly (Most video sharing sites use Flash video technology to deliver video and audio streaming). To solve this possible corruption, try to use the following hack.
  1. Download and install CCleaner, a freeware system optimization and privacy tool that able to remove unused files from system, and clean traces of online activities.
  2. Run CCcleaner, uncheck and unselect everything that is selected in both Windows and Applications tabs for Cleaner function, except the option of Macromedia Flash Player, located under Multimedia branch in Applications tab. Ensure that all other options are unselected, or else there may be unforeseen sequences including unable to boot your computer. ccleaner.png
  3. Click on “Analyze” button, and when finished, click on “Run Cleaner” button when done. This will clean and clear out the old downloaded Flash caches.
  4. Try to load the embedded videos again, the sound should output fine now.
