Question about Washing Machines

My washing machine leaks

My water supply was cut while my washer was mid-cycle. Since then I have been unable to use it as it leaks from underneath the front of the machine and vibrates quite a bit when spinning. I am scared it will explode or something if I switch it on because of the water leaking.

No it will not explode on you, what may happen its that the boot or clamp its loose this happens when you move the machine from one place to other. You could open it up and check under the tub, but with the plug out of the out let. also check the tubes which that is hooks up to the drain pump.

Hi, I have a Asko W6221 washing machine. It is about 6 years old. Just recently it has started to leak water/washing detergent down the front of the machine, from the gap that is located underneath the...

Air-gap device -The air gap is a small device found on most washers that prevents the wash water from being siphoned into the household water supply. It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. If one of the air-gap components deforms or cracks, you may need to replace it.

The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.

The washer work but stop along the way,ie unable to complete the circle

see this steps and fix it. God bless you

Lid Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly

If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Water Inlet Valve

If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.

Main Control Board

If the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.

Timer

If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.

Water underneath unit?

Check your water hoses may be leaking behind the machine or at the tap.If the hose is leaking turn all taps off. the alloy crimp needs to be cut off & put a hose clamp on the hose.turn all taps off when machine has finished the wash.

Stops in the middle of wash cycle

Hi!

If the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:
It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.
It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
Please do rate this solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Water runnning out from bottom of washing machine

Barbarahaps,
I had a similiar problem with a Brand X washer. the problem may be your water pump. if so, it is an easy fix for someone who is mechanically inclined. you first must see where the water is leaking from. when i did this, i securly placed my washer on cinder blocks so that i could see underneath it, and let it fill with a little bit of water, then i could clearly see the water leaking out of the water pump. the key concern here is safety, make sure that the machine fills with only a little bit of water, and then cut the power off to the machine to ensure it doesn't start going through its cycle while up on the blocks, creating a potential hazard. If it is the waterpump, find a washer repair store, tell them the year and model machine you have, and get a water pump on order. the water pump is a pretty straight foward repair--you disconnect power from the machine, turn off and disconnect the water supply, disconnect the drain pipe, and tip over the washer to expose its under side. you disconnect the hoses going to the water pump, remove the attaching bolts, and install the new pump. then you hook everything back up and you should be good to go. hope this helps.

Leaking when wash starts

If the washer leaks only during the fill cycle, check these:

It's located either mid-way along or at the end of the black rubber hose that comes from the water-inlet valve. Often it's made of translucent plastic. • The tube -There's a rubber tube that runs between the water-inlet valve and either the air-gap or the inlet spout. If it cracks or breaks, it can cause a leak.

  • Inlet spout -Most washers have a plastic spout near the top of the main clothes tub that directs the water into the tub. If the spout cracks or breaks free of its mounting, it can cause a leak.
