The GE ice maker does not fill with water. The ice maker switch is on and it does not fill up with water. The unit seems to be cycling and I do not see any ice blockage in the water supply line coming into the back of the freezor. The reforerator is one year old.

Ge refrigeration model 20-25 icemaker not making ice

Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If when the ice maker cycles and drops ice into ice bin it chooses not to refill with water at end of the cycle. That would point to the dual water control valve. If ice maker does nothing when filled with tap water that will indicate a defective ice maker. The model number you listed does not appear to be correct. Look around the fresh food section door frame and see what you have. This could be the ice maker or the dual water control valve causing this problem. Thanks Sea Breeze

The water is not coming any more into the ice maker unit, water is available at water dispenser. The filter has been replaced and system purged. The ice maker continues to cycle, but after it cycles...

It can be issue with water fill valve.

Ice maker stopped making ice or filling with water . For this problem you have check few things. First thing, is the water filling in the ice maker chamber and then ice maker not making ice? Or, the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber so it's not making ice. If the water is not filling in the ice maker chamber then it's clear that ice is not getting made due to no water in the chamber. For no water filling, the problem is either water supply valve turned off so water is not filling. Turn on the water supply and it will fill. But if the water supply is turned on then the other possibility is ice blockage in the water fill tube. There is a tube from which the water runs and enters the ice maker chamber. If this tube is blocked then water will not enter the chamber. The tube needs to be defrosted, by using hair dryer. This procedure melts the ice collected in the tube and water starts running again. But if water fill tube is completely clear and no ice blockage or any other blockage. Then other possibility is water valve at the back of ice maker unit. This water valve is for letting the water in the ice maker. The water valve open only for 7 seconds and in this time the water fills in the ice maker chamber and then water valve closes and the same procedure runs again in the next water filling cycle.------- For your information I will mention that there are two valves. One is the main valve the back of the fridge section. This main valve lets the water enter the refrigerator and other valve is at the back of ice-maker section. This other valve lets the water to enter the ice maker. In most of the cases the fault is water valve at the back of ice maker section. ------------- The other above possibilities which I gave you is water not filling in ice-maker chamber so it's not making ice. But now consider that water is filling in ice maker chamber but it's still not making ice. Then the problem is ice maker unit itself. This unit is controlled by main board. But in most cases if water is filling the ice maker but it's not making ice then its faulty ice maker unit. So see if the problem is water not entering the ice maker then the water fill tube is frosted by ice or the water valve at the back of ice maker is faulty. Replace the valve. ------------

Water overflowing in ice maker tray on a GE

make sure your refrigerator unit is level first . If it is , and you have eight square faced plastic cover on the front of the ice maker itself that can be removed by un- snapping it, remove it and see if there is a small screw with a spring underneath it or positive or negative arrow's on the unit where the screw is located. Regardless, if there is a screw all by itself turned the screw 1/2 turn Counterclockwise. this will decrease the amount of time the water valve is open during the ice bin filling cycle.

Ice maker quit working on GE refrigerator

Sometimes on a ice maker what will happen is the water line that fills the ice maker will freeze. You can use a large syringe filled with hot water and from the rear of the frig remove the water line where the hose goes into the rear of the frig and force some hot water into the tube to see if it is clear.
If the line is clear fill the ice maker manually and see if it goes through a cycle.
If it goes through a cycle you have to check to see if the ice maker is calling for water by putting a multi meter across the contacts of the water inlet valve located behind the panel on the back of the frig. Advance the ice maker to run through a cycle and see if it is calling for water. If you have current going to the valve and no water momming in, replace the valve.
If you do not have current going to the valve after the ice maker has gone through a cycle. Replace the ice maker.

ICE MAKER INOP

Check the water control valve on back and bottom of refrigerator. One side is for the dispenser and the other side is for the ice maker. When the ice maker begins a cycle the thermostat inside the ice maker begins to warm the bottom with a heating element to allow the ice to move freely and then dump into the container beside it. As the cycle reaches its final resting place a limit switch is pressed inside the ice maker to refill with water and start the process again. So if the water valve does not open and the tray remains empty and the ice maker will try to cycle again if the thermostat says that it is cold enough again. Check your model number again and I will try to get you some drawings. The number looks good but can't seem to pull it up. Let me know what you see and find. Try filling the tray with tap water and see if it will cycle after freezing. Thanks, Sea Breeze

GE top freezer refrigerator automatic ice cube maker leaks water into the freezer, and eventually on the floor. Water seems to be coming from the area that fill up to make more ice cubes.

If it is leaking water in the freezer it will more than likely freeze amongst the ice cubes causing a block of ice.

It is more than likely leaking at the rear of the unit, near the valve or fill tube for the ice, this will run up the rear wall of the unit.
