Chain slips when in 7th or 14th, gear on Giant Rincon 21 speed men's mountain bike.

This has helped the problem of slipping in 7th and 14th gears. It will still however not go into the high range (chain going onto the largest front chain ring). Sorry about the terminology. We are biking novice and this is a used bike we got from our son. Don't have an owner manual. If we adjust the "H" "L" screws on the front derailleur, it stops shifting onto small chain ring as well or rubs the front derailleur. Thanks for your help!

Hi.

If the chain slips when the bicycle is in high gear you need to align the rear derailleur hanger. See the picture below:

You need to adjust the cable that goes from the shifter down to the gear selector. You should be able to look at it and see which way you need to adjust it. Just loosen the screw and move the selector over where it is right over the the sprocket that it needs to be on.

My pedal has somehow broken inside and now it spins freely without moving the chain

Being a mechanical problem that we can't see you will need to define it better to us or yourself.

I'm sure if you looked at it closer you would see that the pedal itself is supposed to spin freely while it turns on the crank which turns the chainring which transfers motion through the chain to the gear(s) on the right side of the rear wheel which drive the wheel forward.

Now, where do you think the breakdown really is?

Any search engine would then offer definitions and solutions to a well-crafted query like "bicycle chain slipping" or "bicycle gear slipping".

Chain Broke on a Huffy Tundra 18 speed 26" bike. I need to know the size chain to replace or the master link/chain connector to fix the chain.

if the bike has gears it does not have a master link, that is for single speed bikes only.

You will need an 8spd chain for your bike (1/2" x 3/32), these will fit any 6,7 or 8 spd bike. This requires a special tool to install ($8-$25), I would recommend taking into a bike shop and have them do it if you have no experience with this type of chain.

Side note: if you do own the tool, you can repair a broken chain for a temporary fix in the future, so may be worth buying. Check around, many bike shops offer basic repair classes and cover this.

How to change gears? Can you email me an instruction manual for a 26" Mongoose D-40 Bike with 21 speeds? Or can you email me the site where I can print this info?

if the gears are anything like mine, they are on the handel bars and all you have to do is turn them untill the arrow points to the number you want.

My bike has 21 gears the new wheel only has 18 gears w ill the bike work

yes it will. You will have to adjust the gear shift cable so that it doesn't go past the 6th gear on the wheel (as you would've had a 7th gear) otherwise your chain will constantly slip off the wheel and jam up

I had bought a Titan Glacier unisex 21 speed middle gear will not

Here is link that might help:http://www.parktool.com/repair/byregion.asp?catid=53. Also sight from back to front along the chain. The cage of the front derailleur should be parallel to the chain along its length in all three positions. Hope this helps.
