Remote will no longer work

RE: Emerson 27" flat screen tv -- the remote will no longer work - model #EWF2702 it says on the back of the TV -- I had to select below the number 2703 however to get this to submit

Any suggestions (we have tried new batteries -- with brand new batteries it would work off and on after shaking it - wiped off the contacts inside - now it will not work no matter what.)

thank you very much - I am not that savvy technically - in order to use or program a universal remote doesn't the original remote need to be in working order to do so???

Thank you very much ktoth04 for both replies -- I have printed off the info for my husband who is certainly more technical than I am. I appreciate the fast response and resolution to our problem. Thanks again.

Having problem with universal remote after using for over a year, tried new batteries. It is stuck in Video 1 mode. I even bought a new universal remote, entered the correct code etc. but no luck. Cannot watch the olympics, only the DVDs play through the Video 1 mode. So what or where do I go from here.

My original remote stopped working so I got a replacement OEM remote. That worked for awhile but has also since stopped working. I then tried a universal remote and THAT worked for a time but no longer works. I don't know what else to try. Is there a way to reset the remote sensor in the tv?

I and a friend have the same model EWF2703, both quit responding to the remote. It is not a remote problem.it is the sensor in the tv set that is the problem. who sells replacment sensors?

I found the exact Emerson # NE116UD remote on newremotecontrol.com priced reasonably. All the universals state that it is compatible to Emerson but it still doesn't work.

    Thanks for the help

Your best bet is to buy a universal remote that would work with your model television or a replacement remote from your manufacturer.

This one is pretty cheap (and may be your exact remote?)

You could probably buy a universal remote cheaper at walmart or target, but the cost savings will cost you the time and hassle to program the remote (and if you buy a universal, you must make sure it works with emerson TVs).

No, a universal remote comes with complete instructions in how to program it, and they have a list on the package of TVs they are compatible with. You should make sure your TV is on the list... if you can't find one that has your TV listed, i recommend buying the one I linked to, above.

    No problem, good luck!

Check the infrared emission from the remote control. If it is OK, the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty. To get more details about how to check a remote control, visit the site named 'Electro-help'. You can search for it either by Google or yahoo.

My emerson 20 inch flat screen tv is encased in a dog house for outdoor use. I can't get to the back to see the model number and I want to buy a remote control for it. Is there a universal emerson...

You should be okay just buying any generic universal remote. Any remote requires programming to work with a specific TV, but universal remotes are easily programmable. The instructions included with the universal remote will detail how you program that remote to work with your TV (usually along the lines of simply putting it in programming mode, and pressing the power button until it turns your TV off, and then locking it in)

Need a romote code for HRS URC-383 for my emerson 27 inch flat screen.

If you are using Sky Remote then you can try to use these codes 0742, 0205 or 0206 for you Emerson TV which will work on all versions of the handset.

these are usually generic codes and may well work on the HRS URC-383 remote as well

Looking for a remote for an old Emerson TV

Hi,

Call 1 800 Remotes or go to www.remotes.com. In the middle of the page type in the model number which in your case would be VT1920. I believe the original remote is not available anymore but you can get a substitute remote for that TV. Also have you considered getting a universal remote? Those work on any TV with any component. Try the first two suggestions and hopefully you will find what you are looking for...

Hope this helps,
Sincerely,
Raelyn

Hi,
I had the same problem it ended up being the speakers I had on top of my tv, so I had to move them. If you have anything on top of your tv with a signal move it. :)

How to change the input

First, the bad news: Unfortunately, you are correct - the only button to change inputs is on the remote, which you no longer have.

Now, the good news: You can buy a universal remote, set it for your TV model, and have control of your inputs again. The first link below is for the URC R6, which is available at any Walmart for about 20 bucks. You can set it up for an Emerson TV, no problem. Here's the link for it:

http://www.universalremote.com/consumer/products.php

Also, here is a link for the owners manual to your Emerson EWF2703, in case yours has gone missing with the remote:

http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/pdf/om/EWF2703.pdf

Not a perfect solution, but it will work, and it will work just as fast as you can get to your local Walmart or equivalent.

Cheers
