Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have an HP iPAC rx 5900. GPS refused to pick signals. Tried a re-set (both types). The reset screen locks with a 'full' bar. On/off button does not work. Tried taking battery out etc. Any ideas?

Thanks for this! I'll try your suggestions this evening when home. To clarify matters, after a soft, or factory, re-set, the re-boot screen comes up, the progress bar runs to the end, and then the unit just freezes at that point. No light is shown on the on/off button or activity light.
    Cheers!

P.S. HP want £200 to fix it...

without inserting the battery try to hold down the on/off button for 30-40 seconds this will release the flea power(static electric) from the device. then you put the battery and reset the device when you turn it on it should work fine

    To reset :
insert stylus in small rest hole on the side of the device after the flea power

Sat nav just stopped working today in perth wa, not picking up any sat signal. any way to fix this? is it my sat nav or the sats?

It isn't the sats. They're fine.

Try resetting the unit. Use a paper clip to press the button in a small hole on the bottom.

Try to reset the sats. To do this:

Tap the satellite bars in the lower right-hand corner.

Then, on the next screen, tap the satellite bars in the right-hand margin.

On the next screen, select "Configure." Choose a different configuration. Tap "Done," then "Done" again on the next screen.

Did that help?

Samsung Pixon touch screen frozen

The issue of touc screen freezing in he M880 is mostly due to fault in the contact. The screen contact is just below the volumen control buttons on the right. I inserted a fingre nain where the volume control is and pulled up the screena wee bit. near the volume up botton, I then inserted the tip of a tooth pick. It worked and the touch sensitivity is just as new :)

Can't get a GPS signal for last 24 hrs

I had a similar problem and did solve it with the soft reset (pressing reset button). I have a One XL and there is a small reset button that you push with a paper clip. On the XL 330 you press and hold the on/off button for 15 seconds and the unit should reset.

My symptoms: Would not find a GPS signal. When I looked at the GPS Satellite status (press on the GPS signal strength bars, again on the GPS/battery status) you can see it locking on up to 8 satellites but would still not show a gps signal lock. Normally it only takes 4 satellites to get a gps lock. My other sympton was that when I attached the GPS unit to the computer and operated it with TomTom Home, it worked fine and locked on to the gps signal quickly (even inside my home). But it would never (at least for 30 minute trips) lock on to a gps signal. After doing a reset it began working normally and locked on to a gps signal after finding 4 or more satellite signals.

Gps wont pick up satilites

Make sure all the connections at the back of the unit are tight. If it still doesn't respond try a new puck.

No signal

Turn the unit off

Pry off the silver faceplate and locate the reset button underneath

Hold the reset button down for 30 seconds then turn on the GPS while holding the button down.

Once the GPS screen activates you can release the reset button.

If this doesn't solve the problem your next step would be to download the latest software update from this link: www.garmin.com

Signal

First thing ensure that the TomTom is fullly charged using the home charger.
Press the small reset button on the base (700) or do a factory reset.
The other thing to try is tap the GPS signal bars to go to the configure and check in the top right hand corner there is a circle with yellow and black esgments if this is moving then your TomTom is looking for a signal. Move around and you should find that the bars at the bottom will start to move and the small screen on the right will start to indicate circles. When the bars start to move you are getting GPS signals when the bars change to blue there you have a coordination for your position. Some areas are worse than others so move out of your house if after doing above does not get a signal

No GPS Signal in TomTom One XL all of a sudden

I suddenly lost the GPS signal today and could not get it back. All I got was the "No valid GPS signal". My solution was to tap on the GPS satellite bars when in the route map. this brought up the "Status summary page of the TOMTOM.

I then again tapped the satellite bar which brought up the "GPS Status" page. I then tapped the bar labeled "configure".

The radio button next to the option titled "Minutes (dm.m') was selected. I then moved the selection to "Degrees (d.d) and it started working.

I had just downloaded the GPS fix 5 days ago so it is not like this suddenly caused it to stop working.

This may not work for everyone but this is what it took to get mine working.

Cheers
