Wireless printing

Hi rich10is

WIRELESS PRINTING WITH WIRED EPSON ACULASER CX11NF PRINTER

Your printer is not a wireless printer but it is a network printer so it should be straightforward for you to create a wireless printer setup.

If your computer is a laptop, its wireless function would work seamlessly in a wireless printer environment. If your computer is a Desktop computer, all that would have been required would be (if you don't already have one) an inexpensive Wireless USB Adapter to plug into the back of the Desktop to transform your setup into a fully Wireless Network. You should connect your printer to your wireless router/modem with an Ethernet/CAT5E/RJ45 Cable. Then enter Network Places on your computer and add the printer to your wireless network using 'add a device'.

I hope this helps. If this Answer goes some way towards helping to resolve your Query, Problem or Fault, please take the time to Rate it. I am installing Kodak ESP-C310 All In One Printer on my home computer. If I want to use this printer for more than one computer (I have 3), do I need to load it on all three? I am using a wireless setup.

For best results, yes. I'll assume you're using a Microsoft operating system. You'll have to "share" the printer from the computer it is connected to by setting the appropriate options in the printer settings. Then, on the other networked computers, you'll have to add a "network printer" and provide the drivers when prompted.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/expert/honeycutt_july2.mspx http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Install-a-printer-on-a-home-network
Note: There are other ways to do this as well. For instance, if you router has a usb port, it may be capable of sharing the printer for the network or if all your computers have wifi NICs, that printer supports simply browsing for it wirelessly and will install itself if you're running Windows Vista and up. XP will probably still ask for the driver.

What do I need to connect two computers on a network router to one printer

There are several things that you can do, the easiest is to have one of the systems HOST the printer, then SHARE that printer.

I need to know your OS to help with the rest, but for windows:

BE SURE if you use a wireless router, TURN ON SECURITY. Make the access code a 10 digit number....

Next, you may need to invoke the Network Wizard, in control panel, and that turns on all the switches to have the printer visible on your network. If you are running XP, you may need to do this in both computers.

In Vista go to network and sharing center, and give permissions there.

Sooo, now you have one computer able to print to this printer, and on that system, the printer is SHARED.

Now go to the 2nd computer, and you need to add a printer. If not on your start list, look in control panel... you want to add a NETWORK printer. You would like the system to look for available printers. Eventually, the shared printer should show up, you need to add it and install whatever drivers are needed, but typically NOT from the printer install disk, as that disk it intended for the host system, not network users...

Hope this gets you going.

Doc
(It is becoming more common, now, to have printers as their own network unit, but some of the setups are bumpy for less techie people... Hosting by one computer is much more stable.)
