Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

My washing machine is approx 8 years old and when I put an extra large or large load in the machine leaks a substantial amount of water from the rear left side onto the floor. I'm wondering if the springs might need replacing or if it's something more cotsly?

Potentially, two things could be happening.

Try putting less clothes in on the large load setting, once the tub fills with water, the level is too high and it will drain out the back.Open the washer door once it stops filling and check the water level. If it does this repeatedly the new washer needs the level adjusted.

If a garbage disposal is connected could be partially clogged when several drains operating at the same time, the drains can't handle the pressure.

I do think #1 is more likely.

Whirlpool Washer Model No. LXR-1564039, Serial No. CM-1564039, Type 107, Year 2006. Went using the extra large setting the washer leaks water from the bottom, however went filling for the rinse...

Although its difficult to say the problem may not be caused by the amount of water but the water temperature.
Most often rinse tempertaure is cold only, however the wash might be warm /hot. A great place to start would be when the machine is filling in wash watch the connectons from the taps to the machine for any leaks in the hoses or connections.

Hope it helps.

Water leakage particularly when on full load. Machine is approx 9 years old. thanks

Could be main seal which is quite a large job, but advise looking inside could be a split drain hose to the pump, to access the inside, insert a flat blade 4" from each side between the front panel and the lid to release the clips. The lid will now hinge backwards, remove the 2 top screws on the inside of the front panel, this will now lift to remove. check the black hose at the rear of the drum to the pump.

Fisher and Paykel IW810AU fault code 105

I have found out from a repair agent that the fault code means there is no or corrupted communications between the display and motor drive module.

It may be simple as a loose cable, if the washing machine has been moved recently.

In my case I have a very slow little leak in the hot water solinoid (Bad spelling I know) thus causing it to leak on the circuit board and over time rust the connections. Basically my machine was not worth repair as the main circuit board was a tad too expensive. It was still cheaper than a new one (even after all the extra costs were put into consideration, ie - Labor and transport costs) but my machine is 8 years old and I thought for an extra couple of hundred dollars I could get a new one with warranty.

I know there are people out there bagging these machines, but 8 years out of a item (without any servicing) that uses moving parts, electricity and water is pretty good.

Hope this helps?

cheers

Dave

Front loader washing machine = black streaks on clothing

I am a recently retired engineer of 20 years once you have ruled out anything getting inside the machine by accident etc, like something in pockets or greasy overalls, then its likely to be the drum bearings, has the machine started to get noisy on the spin the drum bearings are covered by a rubber seal, this seal gets damaged or worn and water leaks into the bearings themselves washing out the grease back into the drum where the washing is, you could also notice slight water marks on the floor underneath the machine on the floor, take the back off and look for water marks coming from the drum outer casing behind the pulley, these marks will be brown and will originate from a small drain hole, if any of the above change the bearings before any real damage is done, either to the clothes or the machine, as repair can be expensive? sorry, hope i have helped you as to where to look at least,
