Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have recently reformatted windows xp to and reinstalled. I am not able to find the correct drivers for the onboard lan that comes with the dell dimension 2400. I have looked on the dell website. And I did not look to see what driver I had previously installed before I formatted. without that driver I do not have access to the internet. And my andriod phone will now allow me to download .exe files. I assume I will need a flash stick and someone eles computer, but please let me know what driver is necessary for this type of desktop computer.

Not sure but that might be your drivers.
If not, see if you can download service pack 3 (SP3) for XP, and run it. I keep SP3 it on a USB stick, just for situations like these...

Compaq Presario 2050NX onboard pnp nic (LAN) device not found - reinstalled onboard LAN device driver, still can't see it

For Windows XP CLICK HERE
In Windows 7 the driver installs automatically
I would suggest uninstalling all drivers for the network adapter then reboot and allow the system to find the NIC again. If this is Windows XP uninstall all drivers for the NIC, reboot, and install the above driver.
If it is Windows 7 uninstall the drive, reboot and allow device manager to locate the driver itself.

How do i get sound back on my computer i have reformatted recently and lost all sound ....i have been on this issue for a week and everything i have tryed...failed please help me i run a dell dimension...

There's a good chance that the drivers that come with Windows XP SP1 & SP2 may not support your sound card. I'm guessing that you're using the onboard sound that comes standard with that configuration. If you're using the default onboard sound you can download the drivers from Dell here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_CEL_3000&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= and install them. If you're using a different sound card I'd need to know which one in order to point you in the correct direction. To find out which sound card is in your system do the following:

  • Go to your Start menu
  • Click on the Control Panel icon
  • Switch to classic view
  • Click on the System Icon
  • Click on the Hardware Tab
  • Click on the device manager button
  • Click on the + mark beside the Sound & Game Controllers selection to expand it
  • It should list which audio device you have
You can also type in your service code (this is listed on the side of the case on the sticker) and type it into the site at support.dell.com and it will show what hardware that system shipped from Dell with.

I want to reformay my Dell Latitude D505 laptop. I have the reinstall disc with system software, device drivers, diagnostics and utilities as well as the windows XP Disc. Is this all I need ?

HI there,

It looks like you're good to go except you should, during rebuilding your system, go to the Dell Support Drivers & Downloads site (which they recommend), enter the service tag# for your laptop, and download and install most of your drivers from there as they will be the most recent.

Since you're using XP, you'll want to start with the XP disc and reformat and install XP first, then use your Dell Dsic that has drivers on it to install the LAN and WLAN (wired and wireless internet connection) drivers to get on the net and go to the Dell site.

I usually make a folder on the desktop and name it Drivers, then while at the Dell site dowload each driver, BIOS update, application, etc. to that folder so I can work directly from the driver files without constantly reconnecting to the Dell site every time I have to restart after a driver install that requires it.

Good Luck

I have Windows XP disk, and i wanna to reinstall my operating system on my desktop (Dell SX260), but i lost my "Drivers and UtilitiesCD". But i dont have any idea ti reinstall it.

Get the free program Belarc and run it, print the results. It will tell you what drivers you need. It is best to get the drivers onto a thumb drive before you reformat.

You can also go to the Dell site, support, plug in your service tag and you can download the drivers from Dell. Now when you reload XP you will have the needed drivers. Often, especially with Dell, when you reload, you cannot connect to the Internet until the correct driver is installed.

Just reformatted my dell dimension e510, prob connecting to net

Hi there.
Use the Dell tools system software CD to install the LAN (network) drivers, just pop the CD into the drive and install the CD, once it is installed a new window will pop up giving you an option to install drivers and/or utilities, just look for the LAN or network drivers and restart the PC when prompted the LAN drivers will be installed and you will be able to connect to the internet.
Post back if you have anymore problems.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

No audio

Hi

Quite likely, drivers for the audio controller is missing/not installed.

You did not give any info on the Operating System you installed and the sound card in question; Onboard or PCI Sound Card. I am assuming you have Windows XP or 2000 and using the builtin/onboard sound controller.

If this is correct, you will need to download and install ADI Onboard Sound Driver (Windows 2000/XP) - http://ftp.us.dell.com/audio/R94481.EXE

Let me know how you get on

Mike
