Question about GE Security Simon 3 Wireless Home Security System

2 Answers

Hi -- I have a Simon Security System (not 3, as far as I can tell). I deleted a Sensor, using the keypad behind the door, now I can't figure out how to add it back. I can't find anything about it in the manual. Thanks. -- David

Aplug -- Thanks so much for taking the time to field my question. I got past my main problem, which was figuring out what to press when the system says "press button on sensor". Turns out that tickling the tamper spring (with the cap removed) and/or touching the square copper piece (presumably an antenna) with it, couples it to the system. The system thinks it is "keychain remote" sensor 7 rather than "kitchen window" 7, but I really don't care. The sensor works when the window opens, and it isn't prompting me with any messages. A moral victory. Thanks again. -- David

You can still bring back or add another sensor. You simply need to use an installer code to access control panel and then add up sensor and activate it manually either by opening it or pressing its buttons. Here is the steps:

1. Open the panel
2. Key in Installer Code (installer code can be found in your manual)
3. Select ADD
4. Select Sensor/Remote
5. Activate the selected Sensor ( Activation can be done by pressing buttons that comes with it or sometimes it needs to be opened to activate)
6. Choose Sensor name and group. See the manual for group listing. (Example: If you want to arm sensor door out it in group 14.)
7. Press Done when finished and run the Test to make sure all sensors are working.

I hope that is all you need.

arm (such as for a window sensor or door sensor) put it in group 10 or 13. If it's a smoke sensor, group 26; motion detector, group 17 and keyfob, group 01.
Press done when finished and run the test to make sure the system is reading the sensor.

Can any wireless door or window sensor be used with the ge simon

Sad to say but other brands of wireless door and window sensors will not work with the ge simon. Other sensors has different command patterns that it will not recognize the command coming from the GE Security Simon 3.

I have a GE Simon XT. I arm the system. When I return several hours later, the front door doesn't beep when I open it. I have to close/open it again to register. Front door is Sensor 1, Group 10. What...

Can I assume it is a wireless contact we are talking about?

1.) Low battery in tansmitter. Does your keypad display a low battery trouble? If so, ensure you put system in test before replacing battery as not to generate a tamper alarm when opening contact.

2.) Relay in transmitter is sticking. Replace wireless contact.

GE Simon reset

In order to do this, you must have the "installer code". This is not to be confused with your master code which you use to disarm your system. Once you have this code, enter it when prompted, press delete, press sensors, when proper sensor is announced press done to accept, system announces that sensor "x" has been deleted. There is a default "installer code" (1234 or 4321) but many suppliers such as ADT change it to prevent owner tampering.
