Not too hard..should be a couple of small cross screws under the bottom, just remove them, and slide out the old drive..

  • The original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD is fitted into a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive cradle - Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 HDD caddy.

      • Gently remove the cradle from the laptop, yes pull on it
      • Unscrew the original Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive & remove it from the cradle.
      • Screw the new Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 Hard Disk Drive into the cradle & refit the cradle into the laptop.
      • Re-install XP or Vista

hi,most laptop hardrives are the same type  (IDE,SATA are your two main type)
yours is a IDE HDD just have a look online for one or go into a computer shop
(P.S if you upgrade you will have to coppy all your files from your old HDD to the new one)
          hope this helps

You can download the service manual at the link below

          http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/26986/Toshiba_2400.html

This is not going to be exact because its just the series manual but good enough to be able to do it.

The drivers come on a DVD with the computer. Otherwise they can be downloaded from Toshiba. Is there a particular driver that you need?

          Drivers.com is also a source.

well if you got the money to spend then you can probably stick at least a 250 gig (probably even more than that) hard drive in it. Reason i say 250 gig, cause i noticed this here - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136159 - if that's too pricey then almost half that price will get you 120 gigs here - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136130 - but whatever you get you should be good to go with as long as it's ATA and not SATA cause your laptop works with ATA only. And go with 5400 rpm's for sure (if you can find you a 7200 rpm then your really in business) I would go with a Western Digital or Seagate because they are more reliable. Hope this helps you and good luck.

I need to replace my hard disk notebook with a bigger capacity hdd

Toshiba is rather secretive with their documentation. It is hard to find. Google TOSHIBA SATELLITE A10 SERVICE MANUAL and check the available offerings.

You now have a 5400 RPM, ATA 100 drive. You should not have any drive size restrictions. Shops are advertising many large drives as compatible.

I suggest that you purchase only a 7200 RPM drive. The faster speed will perk your machine right up.

I have not worked on Toshiba machines but suggest you have all restore disks and passwords at hand.

Want To Replacing My Toshiba A10-S330 Hard Disk

          Hi,

Normally you can upgrade to a new hard disk to the next bigger size, so from 40 Gb, then perhaps a 60 or even an 80 would work. Even if the BIOS/motherboard would not recognized the new size, Windows XP would and be able to access it.

However, I don't think that the size should really be the main concern. I think that your selection should be based primarily on the power consumption. Most laptops have a preset power distributed to its devices. If you are going to use a bigger size HD with a bigger power consumption, Windows (or even your BIOS) might recognize it but the power distribution might be over worked.

My suggestion would then be go to the next size but keep in mind the power rating/consumption of the old when selecting.

I am enclosing an image of my laptop's HD. Pls note the rating DC+5V 0.7A for this 60Gb HD. The 0.7A is its current consumption/rating.

          851b184.jpg

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things worked out or should you need additional information.

          Good luck and kind regards.
