    Thanks.Jack

I did as instructed. but no lites came on. the only lites lit were the hold & slow spin. do u have any other suggestions?

    thanks Jack

  • Jack Sep 06, 2010

did as directed in removing agitator. Nothing under it. Still no lites come on when in dianostic mode.

When I first go in to dianostic mode (with machine off, I hold down the wash Temp switch, & then depress power on. at that point low water lite comes on. When we go to Detailed Fault code. No lites come on.

didn't know if u got my comment on coldwater not working. but it doesn't fil tub when set on cold wash. Also, in diagnostic setting, when u test for "cold water" no water runs into tub. but testing Hot water, water runs into tub.

think replacing 'cold water' soldinoid would be the answer?/\\

Is there a certain trick to taking the wiring harness off Cold or Hot water valve?

I didn't want to breake anything.

    thanks for ur help.

Switched wiring, Hot to cold, cold to hot. when I did the test, it was as u suspected, When I pressed hot I got no water, when I pressed cold I got hot. I will order the cold valve. when they send the valve, will there be instructions on how to install it?? Hope so, it looks a little complicated for the average "bear" like me.

    Thanks,

Thank u veery much for your time & patience. I will order the
    replacement cold water valve.

Some of the Wash Progress LEDs flash when the machine stops due to a fault. The 8 Wash Progress LEDs stands for the binary digits and by indicating the digits, the fault code number is determined. The fault code can be shown by activating Diagnostic Mode if none of the Wash Progress LEDs are lit.

Turn machine OFF on the front panel then hold down the Water Temp Down button and press the POWER button until the machine gives 2 short beeps and lights up. Release buttons and you are in Diagnostic mode. Press the Spin Speed Up button until the Hold and Slow LEDs are lit. Write down the LEDs which are lit across the Wash Progress LEDs and post it back.

Unplug the machine for at least 30 minutes then redo the procedure in activating the Diagnostic Mode.

Make sure you follow the instructions carefully and correctly.

Sometimes small garments can get caught under the agitator and prevent proper agitation. Pry the agitator cap off then remove the screw under it securing the agitator to the drive shaft. Once the screw is off, lift the agitator off and see what's under it. Lift the basket if you have hard time lifting the agitator off the drive shaft. Lifting the basket also lifts the agitator.

There may be no fault detected at all but the groans are likely to be coming from the basket drive hub and the drive shaft hub not fully disengaged during the agitation cycle. As water fills in at the start of the wash cycle, the basket floats and the hubs should disengage to allow the agitator (impeller) move freely in both directions. The hubs re-engage at the end of the agitation cycle after water is drained allowing the basket to spin.

Check for this condition by running an empty cycle and with the lid open for you to have a view of what is going on. But in order to achieve these, you have to place a strong magnet over the reed switch. The reed switch serves as a lid switch and it is activated by a magnet on the lid when it is closed. The reed switch is located under the right hand side of the top cover, approximately 5 inches from the front. A protrusion can be seen on the underside of the lid where the magnet is located.

There is indeed an issue of incomplete disengagement between the basket hub and the drive hub if the basket moves with the agitator. You should take the basket out and clean the cylinder where the drive drive hub moves up and down. Complete disengagement may not be possible if the drive hud restricted.

"I went into the Diagnostic Mode, when I ck the hot"

That is the only message I got.

The cold water LED should flash when no cold water is detected by the motor controller module. Swap the cold and hot water valves harnesses and redo the tests for both. The cold water valve is indeed not working if still no cold water enters the machine now that the hot water valve harness is used on it. Furthermore, hot water should fill in when the machine calls for cold water if there's power in the cold water valve harness.

The machine will definitely not work to agitate with the cold water valve not working. Replacing the cold water valve is a must, if it is not working, before any other faults can be detected, especially the agitate functions.

No tricks needed. Simply pull the connectors off,not the harness itself, while holding the coil.

Remove the screw securing the Motor Controller Module to the cover then lift the Motor Controller Module up at the pressure sensor end and ease away from the inlet chamber. When the Motor Controller Module is separated, a small quantity of water will discharge from the Inlet Chamber and heatsink. This must be dried off before refitting. When reassembling, ensure the console area is dry. For easy assembly lubricate the sealing grommets with soapy water or liquid detergent.

Turn off faucets and remove the inlet hoses. Take care extra not to spray water into the console area. Remove the two screws located between the inlet valves and remove the screw from the top of the inlet chamber. Lift the inlet chamber and remove water valves. Lubricate the seals with soapy water and reassemble the valves in reverse order.

Reach into the washer and try to turn the agitator by hand and if you can turn it freely the agitator coupling (sometimes called the air bell) is stripped out. If that isn't the problem let me know. Here is the part should you find it bad.

Both drum and agitator spin during wash cycle. Is this normal?

What is the age and model number of the washer? It could be as simple as a problem with a part inside the agitator or it could be a bad transmission. A complete model and serial number from the washer not the book.
