Try turning it off and on and also try plugging it in to your computer to see if it still registers as 233mb. you could have some hidden files in it.

u can go for max512 mb..dont go 1 gb as this will hamper the speed of ur mobile..& if u switch to 512 mb..do try to keep all the stuff in memory card rather than sim memory..transfer mostly all the things from phone memory to mem card.This will sort the speed problem of ur mobile
