What you nneed is a transformer that will step up the voltage from 120 to 240 volts, this will do the trick.
No need to get an electrician, you shoul dbe able to find one on E-bay.

Lost Power 120VAC cable, Am Now in Peru with 220VAC

1. Read the voltage info. on the razor. Their should be a label on the razor or info. in the instruction manual that came with the razor. 2. If the label doesn't say 120/220 input voltage you will not be able to use your razor. 3. If you use a adapter but the razor is rated for only 120volts input & you plug it into a 220volt socket you may burn your razor up & it may even cause death. 4. Remember find out the input voltage on the razor label & make sure it's the same as the output voltage as your wall socket. If it doesn't match, don't plug it up!

I have a electric dryer Model WED5810SW0 THAT I WAS TOLD I COULD CONVERT TO 120V from 240v is this true and if so how do i do this?

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU. Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole 15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on #14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be disconnected simultaneously. Voltage converter buying guide. Voltage Transformer Buying guide.Voltage converters also known as voltage transformers are devices that convert foreign electricity to power devices from different parts of the world. A step down voltage converter is a 220 to 110 volts converter. A step up converter is a 110 volts to 220 volts converter. Our 2-way converters are voltage transformers that convert power from both 220 to 110 volts and 110 to 220 volts. They also work with 100 volts, 110 volts, 120 volts, 220 volts and 240 volts. How to use 220 volts sewing machine to 120 volt plug, were can find a transformer?

If the sewing machine came from a forigen country, Check radioshack. They might have an adaptor there. but be ready to spend some $. but if it is an industrial sewing machine, have an electrician put in a 220 volt outlet. Don't cheat. Your home will be put at risk from fire.

Electrical issue...220 dryer outlet problem

ok start at the pannel is there a double breaker there
usually a 30 amp two pole breaker this is how a pannel works first breaker pulls 120 off of one side of pannel second breaker pulls off 120 off the other side of pannel if you look the buss bars you will see that they interchange from one side of the pannel to the other so at the breaker you are checking make sure you have 120 v on output of one half of breaker and 120 on second half of breaker when you use a volt meter put one side to gng the other side to wire comming out of breaker you should have 120 on both sides if not you have a bad or tripped breaker

I need a wiring diagram for a kobalt 60 gallon air compressor

If it's a 220 volt motor, hook l1 and l2 (220 volts) to the line terminals. If it's a'dual voltage' motor (120 or 220)and you want to use 120, hook 120 to the terminals marked 'line'. Make sure the motor is connected for the voltage you're using if it's dual voltage.

I have a whirlpool LER8648PWO dryer that runs but doesnt heat. What could be the problem and where would you look first?

The following link explains how to troubleshoot a dryer not heat problem:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat Most dryer heat related problems are attributed to poorly installed, kinked or clogged exhaust vent ducting. Pay particular attention to the section that discusses ventilation and make sure your dryer interior and ducting are clean. Leaving a dryer in a clogged condition will not only decrease the drying efficiency of the appliance, it will also cause repeated failures of any components you may replace and is a fire hazard.

The first thing you need to check is the wall receptacle for the proper input voltage. A reading across the two hot leads (left and right slots) should read 220-240 VAC. If this reading is incorrect, check your breaker panel. Some homes have the dryer circuit on two breakers, vice one single 220 breaker. If the voltage at the receptacle is good, unplug the dryer and remove the cover on the terminal block in the back of the dryer. Plug the dryer back in and take the same voltage check at terminal block across the RED and BLACK wires. You should see 220-240 VAC if good. If the voltage is bad at the terminal block, but good at the wall receptacle, you have a bad power cord. If the voltage is good at the terminal block, then the problem is internal to the dryer.

NOTE: The reason a dryer will still run if the input voltage is incorrect is because the dryer drive motor only uses 110-120 VAC, while the heating circuits require the full 220 service. So, if you are missing a portion of your input voltage, the dryer may exhibit the symptoms you have.

If you have any questions about this repair, or require additional assistance please let me know.

My son's landlord brought out a new Frigidaire 12,000 B.T.U. room air conditioner. He,(my son) plugged it in and the unit made a popping sound with a flash of light, followed by the smell of burnt plastic!...

hi,

possibly sounds like a household wiring issue, if the unit was brand new and somehow got your 120 volt air conditioner hooked up to 220, that would cause that. You may have to ask some questions about who wired that plug that the air conditioner plugs into. It could be the other way around as well is the air conditioner 220 volts and the plug 120? Have someone check the voltage coming out of the plug. the voltage for the air condtioner and the wall MUST match. If its 220, that was your problem and your air condioner will need extensive service/replace. If it isnt, and the air conditioner was subjected to the lower voltage , it could have caused that as well and the circuit board fried, but hopefully the major components are okay check to see if your wall voltage and your air conditioner voltages are the same, they have to be, your unit will need service either way but hopefully the latter which is cheaper, and call a licensed electrician to check out that plug.

Kenmore electric range 7909083461 not reaching temp

The technician is right.  The electrician should know that amperage X voltage = wattage.  So if you lower the voltage then you lower the wattage.  The element is like a light bulb, the higher the wattage the brighter or hotter it will be.  208 volts is at the minimum so the element won't be as hot as it should be.  208 volts is just enough to make it work.  Would appreciate a solved rating for expert advice.
