Your card is actually archived and now only has limited driver support.
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Legacy/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.13&lang=English
It sound like it has trouble readfing or is having resolution problems but, if you haven't updated driver recently, that could be the problem. There is no support for Windows 7. The link above is the only driver with Catalyst Control for your card. You may want to consider a new one.

Screen not starting after installing graphics card

Hi rohit1987,

The XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 PCI Express card uses two DVI ports on the back of the card. Display is most likely coming from the second port. Try moving your monitor cable to the next DVI port. You can do this while your system is running.
If you still do not receive display, post that here & we'll go over some other possibilities.

Good luck rohit1987!
Thank you for using fixya.

Leadtek GeForce 8600 GT Extreme Video Card - 256MB GDDR3, PCI Express, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card

Usually the power quoted is for the entire system, not for the graphic card. The 8600GT systems (even yours with the overclocked GPU) would run fine with any PSU which comes true 300W (Single Rail PSU).

A key thing it seems in the amperage of your 12V, if its less than 18 or 20 (some say it should be even higher), it might not be enough for your graphic card as it does not come with an extra power socket (only the 8600GTS and above have this).
