What is the possible response to a 1991 Toyota Corolla that has the tendency to overheat. Gaskets are new and it just had repair work done within the last two days. Sensor has been changed. Timing has been calibrated. Is there something we are overlooking?

And you would like someone to guess at what?

A repair shop or dealer would work, hopefully

IF -- your-- going to make love to it, until you reach some
level of success,you will need to get some reference
materials on how the vehicles systems work,study that
& then possibly with a wiring diagram & volt meter do some
testing

Coolant Temp or Sensors-- may play a role there- when cold

On You Tube Video ,there is alot to watch

1991 is getting old ,so harder to find things

boil the thermostat in a pot of water with a thermometer in the water. see if it opens at the rated temperture.

It is worn out,gaskets won't help

White smoke is an indication of coolant in the
exhaust,from a gasket leak,intake or head gasket.

It is a starter problem. But before you get the starter repaired/replaced check also the ignition switch. quite possible that it may be defective.

This is usually caused by a leak in the valve cover gasket. New gaskets is an inexpensive repair that you can possibly do yourself.

pull the 4 plugs out on the top of the engine and get an extinsion and spark plug remover from an automotive shop all it takes is to pull it out and replace it with a new spark plug very easy and it might take 10 min. to do

You either need a new thermostat or the water pump impeller is worn out,this is if the rad fan is working,if the rad fan is not working then you likely need a coolant sensor or a rad fan relay.the water pump impeller is not a serviceable part ,so of it is worn you will need to replace the pump.

Thank you jturcotte for that response but my "mechanics" said they have already done that. Is three anything else that they could possibly have overlooked, maybe a hose? I don't know that was just a guess.
