Hello,
First thing you have to do is to remove the cover of the cd player, then clean the laser lens with a cotton bud soaked with methylated spirit, also check the ribbon cable used to connect the laser lens to the picture board.
Also observe the laser lens when power on, if the laser lens will beam up and show red light, if otherwise you have to change the laser lens to a new one. you can try website like shopjimmy.com to get a new one replacement.
Thanks and take care...

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in

Player will not play cd - it reads then says

Your CD player is failed. It will need to be replaced. Some folks can repair but it cost less to have it replaced. If no one local will do it BOSE will for about $150.

Recorded audio CD will not play

Most likely the recorded format is wrong and that is the cause.

My X box wont play anything..... it says ''unplayable disc''

The DVD rom is probably on its last legs.  Call support and see what they can do for you.  I don't think this is covered under the extended warranties, and it will probably cost you money to fix if its is out of warranty.
Mine did this to me and I am in the middle of trying to repair it myself.
My suggestion is put it in a enclosed cabinet so that it overheats and redrings so you can send it back.

Unplayable disc

I've had similar problems and I got myself a CD lens cleaner.

Its a cd/dvd sized disc that has a few small bristle on it so when u put it into your drive, it spins and cleans the lens.

They are pretty cheap and you can get them in any electrical store and I've seen them in a few supermarkets.

Also check that your disc's are clean too.

Unlyable disk

first i dont know your name so my suggestion is that when we play for 4or6 hrs continously so its gets heated because as you are continuously playing then there is no rest for the computer. so there by it affects your disk and as temperature increses your cd cannot bear such temperature and so your disk is unplayable .
