You have your bobbin inserted into the machine spinning in the wrong direction. take the bobbin out and flip it over and wind around needle plate guide and cut. Look at the little pictogram on the plastic part of the machines throat plate. It shows which direction the thread should spin off the spool when you drop the top loading bobbin into the bobbin case.

I can't understand the manual's directions on how to adjust the tension on the bottom and my bobbin thread is coming to the right side of the fabric.

Make sure the bobbin turns anti clockwise in the bobbin case, adjust the screw clockwise a quarter of a turn at a time until you can just pull the thread through with slight resistence, top tension about 4 or 5

I have a ellure baby lock sewing machine. It will sew fine for a while and then the bobbin tread gets tangled up and breaks the needle thread. What should I do?

first change the needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin
use every thread guide
clean under the needle plate & in the bobbin area for lint
make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
make sure the bobbin is not to full
make sure the bobbin is inserted correctly & turned correctly in the
bobbin case
make sure there are not any burrs on the needle plate

I am trying to shir using elastic thread in my bobbin but my fabric will not shir & my elastic there jams causing me to start all over. I have studied many tutorials. It seems I need to tighten the...

Have you wound the bobbin with the shiring under tension? you need the shirring elastic to be stretched somewhat as it goes onto the bobbin so that when stitched out, it relaxes and pulls the fabric up.

And yes, usually you need to tighten up the bobbin tension also to stretch the elastic some more.

The Ellure has a horizonal drop in bobbin so you will need to access this to adjust the tension. This may require unscrewing the two screws holding down the needle plate (metal flat plate you sew over). Take this off and now you'll see the bobbin holder area clearly. Look where the tension spring is, the little groove you pull the thread into when threading up. Is there a small dial just near this, about 7mm across? it will have a groove in the top and hopefully a + and - marking.

IMPORTANT: carefully make a note of where it is set now. Take a picture or write a little diagram down so you can get it back to normal setting. Use your little accessory screwdriver and carefully turn it one click to +, then test sew. YOu may need to turn it up 3 clicks to get the elastic stretched enough. Just make sure you know where to set the dial back to when you are done.

Also, remember you won't be able to shir heavy fabric, just light weight cottons work best.

I find that stitching lots of straight lines of shirring like you see tube bodice sundresses made in ready to wear is very hard, factories will have a machine that sews 20 rows at once. And getting enough gathers is trial and error with a domestic sewing machine.

Here's how I do it. Turn down top selvage edge of the fabric width you want to gather, turn down about 10mm and straight stitch around. Now on the wrong side with a sewing marker pen rule lines down from here across the fabric width spaced 1 cm apart. Now lie shirring elastic on these lines and stitch over it with a narrow zig zag stitch making sure not to catch the elastic with the needle. Start each sitching seam one cm from the raw edge of the fabric and finish the seam the same way.

Now I pull the elastic up from each side pulling all of them evenly until I"ve got it gathered enough. Now place right sides together and stitch the fabric into a tube catching the elastic ends in and securing them.

I hope this helps you out.

I have a baby lock ellure esl it it a few yrs old but i really have hardly used it for much i am trying to wind my bobbin and the shaft does not turn when i try to get it to wind. am i stupid or just...

Mine does that too. You disconnet the foot pedal (the smaller cord), then push the bobbin to the left, then hit the start/stop button where all the other buttons are. You may have to tap it lightly towards the right side of the machine to get it to "catch".

I need to service my Baby Lock Ellure sewing machine. Any information would be helpful.

All you do is clean the bobbin area - no oiling unless stated in the maintenance section of the manual.

If you do not have a manual, the Babylock website may have a download.

Not picking up bobbin

Have you looked at your manual or bought the more expensive machine book from your dealer?
I wasn't happy at the addtional cost at the time (I spent $2200 US that day) BUT
I have found my book for my Evolve a VERY good investment (70 bucks, but worth every penny these past 2 years!) You may find the same for your Ellure.

Baby Lock have very good cust. service either on the web or right at your dealer. Most dealers will give free lessons upon your request.
I hope this helped, PS I'm a bit jealous.... I REALLY wanted that machine too!
Happy Sewing and Good luck with your baby!
