Question about Vacuums

1 Answer

I bought a used Miele vacuum with the SET210 wand, but the push button to release and clamp the telescoping wand was missing. I can get the wand to slide by pushing with my finger, but it's a little difficult. The main problem is that nothing holds it in place at the desired position. I bought a replacement push button online, but it came with no instructions. How do I install it?

Your best bet would be to put on your friendly face, and take the unit into a Vacuum Repair Shop, and have them assist you, or at least give you tips on the procedure. Chances are you will have to disassemble the unit a lot more than you might want to. You might try to contact Miele support to inquire about any diagrams, etc., and their support site is here:

Wish I had more ideas. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Dyson DC25 -wand extension lost a spring and becomes disconnected during use. I don't know where spring should be?

The button you push to release the wand has a spring to allow it to spring back after the button has been released. If that spring is missing the wand will not stay attached.

The hose is blocked, how do I get it off to unblock?

Hey, this is Tristan with Crucial Vacuum,

In order to remove the hose to start unblocking it, do the following:
1. Put the vacuum in the upright position
2. Press the release button of the telescopic wand and remove the handle from the hose
3. Push the hose elbow downward into the catch hooks.
4. Undo the suction hose by twisting it at the elbow.

If the blockage isn't in this location you can do the following to search further for blockages:

5. Open the service flap on the back of the vacuum.
6. Unscrew the screws and pull the cover free.

Below I have attached a link to the users manual for the Miele S7210. You should refer to page 30 to view the diagrams pertaining to my suggestions.

The telescopic wand on my Miele S5281 keeps collapsing, how can I fix it so it locks in place.

Hi There,
You can get a button repair kit and it should fix your problem which is normally a loose spring. In Australia VacuumSpot sell these over the net.

I have an old Miele canister vacuum and I do not know how to disassemble the hose to check for a clog. I think it sucked up a nerf ball the size of a ping pong ball. I changed the bag but it did isn't...

Hi Emily: If you have the model number for your machine you may be able to find your manual on the Miele website. Check here for older models Here for newer models.

In trying to isolate the clog it would be best to disassemble the wand and hose to more easily isolate the problem. If the problem is a ball it is quite likely lodged at the first elbow

Generally, to detach the suction hose from the canister press the release buttons at the sides of the elbow and lift the hose from the socket.

To release the handpiece from the wand, press the locking button and pull the handpiece away from the wand. Similarly if your unit has a floorbrush this can be detached by pressing the locking button and pulling the wand out of the floor brush.

You may need to insert a wire from the canister end to push out the clog or ball opposite to the direction it was sucked in.

If these directions are not helpful and you cannot locate the manual for your model, please reply with your model number as I may be able to locate it from other sources.

Thank you for using FixYa!

I just received a DC 28 animal vacuum and I cannot pull the extension wand out. I see the button to make the wand go up out of the hose, but I cannot figure out how to release the handle from the vacuum. ...

Hi there,

The Quick-draw Telescope Reach wand on your DC28 is designed to detatch from the cleaner automatically when you extend the wand to it's fullest extent. When you replace the wand on the cleaner, the wand will retract automatically down inside the hose. The button on the rear of the wand which you mention will separate the end of the hose from the wand, so you can use the hose without the wand attached when cleaning in tighter spaces. You do not need to press this to extend or retract the wand.

If you have any further questions about using or maintaining your Dyson, please see the user guide supplied with the cleaner, or visit www.dyson.com and click on 'Support. If you'd prefer to speak to one of our experts directly, you can call us free on 1866MYDYSON.

The wand that connects to the power head at the powerhead connection broke(sheared off) fine crack

Hello,

Unfortunatley the Wand for your Miele is sold as an entirely assembly only. Miele does not sell pieces of this wand separately. In order to fix your wand you'll need to purchase a new wand assembly complete.

The wand on your Miele is the Miele SET210 Wand. Here's a link if you need to purchase one;
http://www.govacuum.com/miele-172.html

I would probably guess that your wand broke off right at the bottom where it connects into the power nozzle. Unfortunately this is the weakest part of the wand as you can probably see. The wand narrows into a thinner plastic here, and I've seen a few wands crack off right on the bottom part.

Please feel free to request a repair clarification if you have any questions about how to repair your vacuum.

If you found this helpful, please be sure to rate it by clicking the thumbs up icon. I really appreciate that.
