SOURCE: MACHINE WILL ONLY SEW IN REVERSE

I had this problem with the same machine. I took it to a repairman and he found a piece of a broken needle underneath the metal plate where the needle goes down to sew. After this was removed, it worked properly.

SOURCE: The presser foot is stuck in the down position.

if you open the left end of the machine .. look inside above the needle and to the back .. you will see a pivot bolt that has either come loose, broken off or fallen out .. replacing that bolt should fix the problem ..

It's stuck inside. Open it up so you can see inside the bottom, look for the feed dog mechanism and you'll find where length of step is varied, this is where the reversing takes place too. Tapping gently and oiling will free it up.

What year is my singer sewing machine? AH251729? how do I purchase parts for it, like the zig zag attachment?

The Singer vintage machine site indicates that the AH251729 was made in 1947 in Elizabeth, NJ. For details see http://www.singermachines.co.uk/faq/tell-sewing-machine-age-from-two-letter-serial-number/ .

Look on the front of your sewing machine and locate the model number of the machine. Go to http://www.singerco.com/support/replacement-parts-chart and locate your model number. (Use the drop down menu and locate the group. Press Go and then find the pdf with the correct model parts list.) You can look up the exact part number and order them from the Singer Service Center online.

Alternatively, you may be able to find them at any Singer Authorized retailer. Just look at your machine and determine the type of shank that connects foot to the machine. (High Shank and Slant are common Singer foot designs on older machines.) Get a zigzag foot for Singer machines with that design. (If they don't have that, you can probably get a current foot and an adapter. We got an overedge foot and the high slant foot adapter for my Singer sewing machine (purchased in 1969) in the 1980s.)

I hope this helps.

This happened to me too. I was using the wrong bobbins and when I would try to sew, the bobbin would slide up and down. I switched to a Kenmore bobbin and my machine hasn't given me any more trouble.

Seem to have a belt slipping problem. The motor runs but the belt is not turning. Have been trying to get new belts. IMPOSSIBLE !!! I have two machines...148 15600 and 385 1233280

Hi there,

I assume you need belts for both machines? Searspartsdirect (SPD) are the best place for Kenmore replacement parts.

There are 2 belts on the 385 1233280 - the timing belt and the drive belt. Both are in stock at SPD and can be obtained by clicking on the following link:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Sewing-machine-Parts/Model-3851233280/0582/1220000/00024020/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

If you hover over the exploded parts diagram you can see a larger view. The timing belt is number 7 and the drive belt is number 15. If you scoll further down the page you can add them to your shopping cart.

They also have both belts for the 148 15600. They are numbered 16 and 17 in this diagram:

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/Sewing-machine-Parts/Model-14815600/0582/1220000/00033316/00008?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

Again both are in stock, and can be ordered by scrolling down the page and adding numbers 16 and 17 to your shopping cart.

Yoiu may be able to get these from a Sears store, but you can any which you need from here.

Hope this helps. Please post back if you need further assistance.

BElectric

How old is the singer sewing machine with the serial number g1027369

You have a Singer Model 27, built at their Elizabethport factory in Elizabeth, NJ, in a production run of 40000 which were manufactured in 1911. Confirmation from Singer available by clicking here.

Your machine is very nearly 100 years old, but in good condition will still be fully usable and you can still buy many spare parts for it.

I need a model number for the kenmore durapower vacuum. Don't have the manual can't find on vacuum

Hi There,

The model number will either be located on the bottom or the back of the machine on a sticker that also contains the serial number. All vacuums have to have this sticker, and serial number information on the machine somewhere. On uprights it's usually on the back of the machine towards the bottom, or on the very bottom of the floor nozzle part. On canister vacuums the model number will either be found on the bottom of the canister, or on the bottom of the power nozzle.

Hope this helped!
