Canon Powershot A520 FROZEN

My camera looks like it would be on, the lens is open but the screen is black. I hold down the on button but only the green light will blink and nothing else happens.

Lens is stuck open.  Camera will not start normally.   Lens parts are not parallel anymore.

My camera will turn on but the screen just has the Canon logo! The lens is in the open position but it won't zoom or close. I can't playback the pictures in the camera or even turn the camera off! It will eventually turn off by itself but I don't know what to do. I tried blowing it out with compressed air but no results - please help.

Screen is black when taking a picture

Hi,

The black screen problem means the lens sensor is spoiled due to over exposure to heat. Its better to give it to Canon service centre. If your camera is under warranty period its well and good they will replace the lens sensor for free of cost.

Thank you

Describe hi, i have a canon powershot a520 that was left in someone's purse when she gave it back to me the lens is now sticking half way out and when i push the power button it blinks on for a split...

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Lens cover won't open when Canon Powershot A520 Camera turned on

I have two Canon Power shots---the A610, and the A630. The lens cover is starting to hang on my 630 when the lens retracts.

If the lens is extended, take your fingertip and try to move the cover a bit to see if it springs open. If not, then the mechanism within the lens needs to be replaced.

Canon makes a great camera, and I would tell you to try to have it fixed if it costs less than 75 dollars. At 75-100 dollars it's a toss-up. More than a 100 dollars---it's your call.

Replacement parts for canon powershot a520????

I have a "broken" A520 that needs a new LCD. I really don't want to spend another $90 to get it fixed so may be willing to sell it for parts. Let me know. I don't know about any guide for disassembly however.

Frozen lens and shutter

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
