Most likely you need to replace the OWB (one-way bearing). I had the same problem and that fixed min. Make sure you check the shaft when changing and if need be replace that as well.

Hi, my ssanyong Rexton, the battery is fine but the engine does not startup, tried many jump starters still cannot start.. What is the solution?

Does the starter spin the motor? IF not, you can bypass the starter circuit by directly connecting a jumper from your battery (positive terminal) to the smaller of the three starter terminals. It will be located on the solenoid. First disconnect the coil pack so the car won't start. Next connect the jumper to the starter first, then the battery, flip the jumper switch, You should hear a loud click and the starter should spin the motor. If the starter spins the motor immediately flip the switch back to "open", disconnect the jumper as your problem lies elsewhere. If starter doesn't spin, the starter/solenoid is the problem. If it does spin the motor, you may have a bad wire, fuse, ignition switch, terminal connection etc. If you are uncomfortable with this solution, take it to a technician. Any of them should be able to diagnose the problem.

Starter spinning wrong way

Wow. Probably the positive and negative connections have gotten reversed in the solinoid and starter motor. Still stuck? I recommend a DIYer's repair manual that shows electrical connections for the starting system.

I have a lexmoto xtrs 125 2012 the starter spins fine now Ive cleaned it up. I benched tested spins fast and free. And I took the plate of the engine opposite starter motor. Chogs all good . Seems like...

put the starter motor back together wrong
dc motors are polarity sensitive so reversing the main power wire will reverse the rotation of the armature

Turn key get nothing jump starter and sylenoid just spins

i cant dope out that symptoms.

does it crank or not. be clear there.

no car starts (but my 6sp) if it dont crank.

on A/T cars cranking is a first thing. so does it.?

Solenoids do not spin, the stroke only , it a linear motion.

the Sol. moves the pinion and the main contactor switch only.

my guess is the Starter spins and the crank don\'t spin,

you hear the starter motor spin up, it sings. like bird.

that means the starter /solenoid are bad. (crude)

if the battery is good and or jumper starting off a running car.

It can just be a dirty starter pinion, clean it , repeat.

fixed many for this. i have.

battery cable lugs clean, and good. no green rust.

bad cable usually just make a loud THUNK sound. no spin.

Engine starter spins and will not start motor somethines.

Remove the engine cover to expose the starter motor (or take the starter off). Lubricate the starter bendix, its the gear atop the starter motor shaft, use Marvel Mystery oil and then work the bendix a bit and it should fix it. If the teeth on the bendix or flywheel are damaged obviously that is where the problem lies.

1997 Mazda MPV 3.0L 2WD Auto: The starter engages the motor spins valve train moves but wont run starter sounds different, spins faster

have a compression check done on the engine If the motor spins faster then that indicates a compression problem form no resistance in the motor.

Starter relay ground

Usually if the starter spins but does not engage the flywheel, the problem is the flywheel or the bendix drive in the starter. The starter gear is supposed to extend to meet the flywheel when the starter spins.

92 honda civic hatchback new starter spins does not engage flywheel, could it be a fuse

unlikely as the motor spins. It appears that the motore solenoid is allowing the motor to spin before engaging the teeth in the ring gear. ON a lot of starters the pivot pin is adjustable to allow for correct engagement.Remove the starter and check that the solenoid is fact connected to the clutch part of the starter. Check that you have the correct starter for the engine

New starter motor and bendix. will not engage with flyweel. starter motor just spins.

Starter motor spins, but does not engage
  1. Check the starter motor for a seized or binding pinion gear.
  2. Remove the flywheel inspection plate and check for a damaged ring gear.

I need a starter for my 1990 suzuki gsxr 750 .the bike will not start sometimes,and i just bought a new battery.so iknow thats not the problem.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, on the determine if there is a clicking sound:
  • if none, then check the neutral switch, sidestand switch, Engine Run switch;
  • if there is a clicking sound but starter motor will not spin, short the big terminals of the starter relay;
  • if the starter motor spins, then the starter relay is faulty;
  • if the starter motor fails to spin, then the starter motor is faulty; most likely the carbon brushes.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
