Question about HP PhotoSmart C4280 Laser Printer

"Installing driver software" every time I plus it it

Why does my HP C4280 have to install driver software everytime I plug it in? Surely there is a quicker way when I can just plug and print.

I've got the same problem, and it's not just recognizing the printer - it is actually installing another copy of the printer, so I end up with Copy 1, Copy 2, etc... it's driving me nuts! Please help!

I have the same problem with a C4280/Vista combination.  It doesn't copy the printer icon, but it does goes through the "plug and play" process each time.  Help!

Find the windows vista compatible driver for your model, run the installation package, and that should be it. If not open your printer configuration dialog from the control panel and continue from there.

Can't install HP Photosmart c4280

You have to know first if your printer is Vista compatible.
If yes, you need the vista drivers in order to get your printer connected with vista.

When the system prompt for the driver, click BROWSE and Select the location
Open the folder when the downloaded driver is and click OK
This must be fixing your problem

Installation Problems, Please help!

try downloading the software from the HP website and then reinstall the printer. But also try to uninstall it using control panel add/remove programs, restart your computer, and then reinstall using the downloaded driver.
